A friend of mine is interested in making some custom unit patches to give away with his products, is there and arfcom recommended place to do so because a Google search turns up a slew of them, was wondering if any are better then other?

Also if they are going to our guys in theater any do's and don'ts  not sure of the regg's regarding such things...

Thanks

You will be raped on setup charges, "art charges", and minimum piece purchase orders.  If you're going to make patches and you're not a government agency (with unlimited dollars), you're going to get raped.  Pure and simple.

camotech's prices didn't seem that bad. He should check out them.

most guys in theater have them made on the cheap cheap by the hadji shops.

That said, the only made-up patch that I have ever seen get authorized for wear in uniform was task force troy.

+1 for Linda at Camotech but be advised she is running a small shop so lead times can be long; we've ordered all sorts of stuff from her in the past and she's G2G.

Be advised that while it is done all the time, a unit technically can't just make a patch for itself; this is done by the Institute of Heraldry (yes, there is an IOH website)...just a warning that you don't get your chain of command in trouble...like I said, it's done all the time on a small scale, but OFFICIAL unit patches are designed/produced by the IOH.

The intent is just some thank you S.W.A.G. marketing that our guys can relate too, not intended to be an actual unit patch.... not sure if the intent is out of line or not...
