So I downloaded iPhone 2.2 last night, and re-jailbroke it... but now I can't get into it from WinSCP! That means that I can't put my custom text message sound back on there! That means no more WOLVERINES! whenever I got a text!

Whatever you do, make sure you update iTunes to the current version before installing the new firmware... I didn't and it bricked my phone, I had to do a total restore, blah.
FWIW 2.2 is an improvement. I'm getting better performance and streetview is pretty cool. There were warnings that if you had a jailbroken phone, do not update to 2.2 |

Make your own iPhone ringtones!
I found this the other day and it works, even for lame-brains like me.

I'm doing good just to be able to put gas in the thing and drive it. I am NOT a hacker, by anyone's definition.

Is 2.2 any good? I was playing with it yesterday but decided no to go through with the install. My 2.02 is jailbroken and I wish I could go back to the earlier version, I hate it. I can surf arfcom better with 2.2, no lock ups like with 2.02 or 2.1. I just jailbroke it so we will see if it stays that way. |

Generally, you're going to want to wait to apply the latest firmware if you intend to jailbreak it. It takes a little while for the h4xx0rz to crack it again. |

New update worth it? I've been slacking so I haven't downloaded it yet. Seems pretty good. I've noticed response (opening apps, going to email, going to settings, etc...) seems a bit quicker. The additions to Maps is pretty cool. They added a Google Search box to the browser. |
