Should I see contunity through a brushed DC motor, even if I turn it manually?  Trying to isolate a problem... A 120 volt dyson vacuum beater bar motor if more info is needed.

Permanent magnet or a series/shunt would rotor?

What problem are you trying to diagnose? (Electric motor mechanic here)

Simply trying to find out why the beater bar doesn't work.  So far, the switches and breakers have continuity.  I put the contunity testers to the motor terminals (when disconnected from the board), and there was none, but I don't know if that's normal.  The only useful information on the motor is that it's DC 120. Is the circuit board component what changes AC to DC?  Except for this item, I don't see a transformer of any type anywhere.

I don't know any of the techical details of this motor, but here's a pic.

I'm a little fuzzy on this type motor but you should have continuity across the brushes with a two pole setup like this.

You can put the motor on a battery charger and see if it'll run. Just be ready to unplug it fast to prevent overspeed

Found the problem, it was unrelated to the motor. Didn't try continuity across the brushes., but there was certainly none across the terminals.

Thanks!
