So I was at my LGS today and fondling a couple DD rifles.  Seemed pretty nice and was thinking of picking one up?  I don't remember the specific model but it was ~1700 for the M4. Are they worth it?
5/8/2015 11:47:11 PM EDT
[#1]
Mine was sure worth it.

although I paid 1500 new.  1700?  I guess so

5/8/2015 11:48:34 PM EDT
[#2]
I don't know that I would have paid 1700, but I sure like it.
5/8/2015 11:49:58 PM EDT
[#3]
Not for 1700. Hell and I have 2 DD rifles and spent nothing near that.
5/8/2015 11:54:21 PM EDT
[#4]
Save up a little more and get a KAC or LaRue.
5/8/2015 11:54:58 PM EDT
[#5]
To clarify, the 18" was roughly  $1500. The 16" was roughly $1700.

Depending on the dealer but most DD rifles start at $1399
5/8/2015 11:57:31 PM EDT
[#8]
If you are patient, you can get many of their rifles for around $1100 online.

Why?

IMO you get more features for your money ($1700-2000 range) with KAC or LaRue vs. DD
http://www.laruetactical.com/16”-larue-tactical-predatar-556 ($1807)

Now, in the $1100 range, DD is good to great buy.
5/9/2015 12:00:51 AM EDT
[#11]
They should run about 1400 for M4V11 with KMR or 1300 for DDM4V7

Yeah, they have decent DD deals.  They had the $400 off coupon forever...and their DD prices were lower then.  I picked up a V11 last year for $1100 using that coupon.

$1700 for an M4 DD, jump on that.  I have no idea where you will find ammo though.

The SR-762 is manufactured by Ruger, not KAC.  The SR-15 is manufactured by KAC.

If the OP wants a 5.56 rifle, that $1700 is better put towards a KAC SR15, not a .308 Ruger piston gun.

They are going for 1400 on GB right now. I paid about 1200 for mine.

My local gun show usually has them at about 14-1500.

I just placed an order for my second Daniel Defense rifle. My first was the DDM4v11. The new one, when it get it, will be the DDM4v5LW. I am a huge fan of Daniel Defense. They're are very high quality and their customer service is excellent. My opinion is Daniel Defense is well worth the premium.

None of that stuff is a DD.  It's all chambered in 5.56mm, no where near DD.

I wouldn't buy a complete DD rifle at $1700.  $1300 would probably be my max for those specific models.

A KAC SR15 though?  I'd say it's worth what they charge for it.

I like the DD m4a1, Great looking gun.  They are getting a premium for them now best ive seen was $1650 on buds with their make an offer tab. So your dealer is not out of line with his pricing.

OP if you want another DD like the V7 or V11 those can be routinely had for under $1300

A lot more engineering has been put into the KAC.  You also get better(IMO)/more stuff with the KAC as well.

E3 bolt/barrel extension, two stage match trigger, LMT SOPMOD buttstock, proprietary KAC gas length (the new Mod 2 had an entirely proprietary gas block/system which seems a lot more stout), some of the best BUIS in the industry, fully ambidextrous lower (without any stupid bolt on doo-dads that are prone to failure), KAC suppressor mount.  All of this is included with an SR15.

The DDM4 is essentially a standard run of the mill "milspec" AR with a nice FF rail and a slightly more sought after barrel.

Very cool, thank you sir!

Can the SR15s be had for $1700? Because thats not a far jump from the $1400 I'm paying for DD m4s around these parts.

I don't think I've ever seen them priced that low.  Usually right around $2k.

You could try to find a discount (IIRC you're LE).  I'd check with Lawmen's and Shooters' Supply in Vero Beach.  They are owned by KAC and I'm pretty sure they'll ship anywhere.
