Anyone a member here? i have seen a lot of their adds and even filled out one of there request slips. Now they want me to attend one of their 'Open Houses" What say you? ' |
| My dad and stepmom signed up for it just a few months ago. The amount of stuff they have there you can order is crazy. On a lot of the stuff there is HUGE discounts. It's about $7000 or so for the first two years I think, then $300 a year for years three through ten. |

Well normaly you don't always pay it upfront right away, but you can and it's less. I think It's like $7500 with interest and all if you pay over the two years. Can't remeber too well. But this isn't the place you go to to pick up just a couch or a dinning room set and that's about it. How it works is Directbuy is pretty much providing you the service of making the connection with the manf. and ordering it and etc. They aren't selling you product or anything. You get it straight from the maker or supplier (incase of wood, tile, etc.). You're buying things at the price the stores buy at. The only middle man here is Direct Buy having the stuff in their warehouse untill you pick it up and them ordering it (unless you order off their site, but you can't see the prices of everything and they don't have everything they offer on there). So unless you plan on remodeling the house or buying all new furniture for the living room and a bedroom set and dinning room set and etc, then it might not be exactly what you are looking for. They even sell TV's Hope that helped. |

They have some deals but it is very hard to get your initial investment back. I don't remember it being $7K but it was my former bosses account. I do know that he ended up paying some serious 'fines' because he was a week late picking up some stuff. He was pissed. |

I've delt with several reputable individuals who deal with this company. One was a VERY large commercial real estate agent, he told me whenever I have enough volume of personal apartment complexes , that I have to join because the things they sell related to home goods is massive. The idea is to keep most of the general public out with the $3500/year fee for the first few years. |

I did a google search several months back and the consensus is UNLESS you are buying a whole house full of furniture, it is not worth it.. The initial investment is hi, the sales pressure to sign up is high, and you are only ordering thru catalogs.. Our neighbors joined and said they pricing was good, but they had a hard time getting a replacement kitchen cabinet (first was damaged) since everyone kept passing the buck.. ALSO - items like kitchen cabinets you are responsible for installation and ordering the correct size.. brian |
Uh no. People who need to buy a whole house worth of stuff at one shot save some money, those who only need a bookshelf or a couch will most likely not save much, if any, money. |
My wife and I did this when we first married. It was called Uniway at the time. If we were buying a houseful of stuff, we could have saved money. And knew exactly what we wanted, and they 'carried' it. The freight on stuff was added to the price and brought the cost up to where it was hardly worth it. We laugh at how gullible we were back then. |
My parents signed up a couple of years ago. They did three bathrooms and the kitchen in Granite and save a shit load of money. So far, they have earned the investment back, but only because they have redone the entire house. Its kinda nice, sometimes they order stuff for me (new Toyo tires installed on my car at cost!). But, my best friend did it and he freaking hates the place. |
