So I was trying to go to the fucking shooting range today for the second time this year, so I loaded all the shit in the car, then went to go down the road when the tire fuck you light came on. Of course the lazy fucks at firestone that put the goddamn tires on didn't reprogram the fucking TPMS so it was actually the right rear wheel that was low.
I stop, look for a puncture, nothing. Took the fucking tire off, nothing. Sprayed the valve stem... god dammit. So I take the motherfucker to the fucking firestone, but the lazy fucks can't replace a fucking valve stem until monday because they are too busy sucking balls or something to replace a fucking valvle stem. Next closest place is sears tire, and they can do it for $65 and an hour - OK, Fine. After I leave the fucking parking lot the tire fuck you light comes on again. The left rear tire is reading 2 PSI, so they clearly didn't fucking reset the TPMS. I look in the owner's manual and of course you need the fucking key fob, but my fucking key fob is broken. So my question is, do the OBD scanners you rent at auto zone/oreilley whatever allow you to put the TPMS in learning mode? If so I'll rent the motherfucker and do it myself, otherwise I got ripped off because I could have just put a fucking 50 cent rubber motherfucker in there. Car is a 2007 pontiac grand prix |

You realize, the valve stem IS the TPMS? Uhh, yeah. I paid $65 to have a new valve stem/TPMS unit installed. But in order to actually pick up the new unit it has to be reprogrammed, which is what I'm trying to accomplish. Take it back and tell them to fix it. |

I know this doesn't help you much, but on my Vette you can reprogram them by pushing buttons on the dash. If I recall it also requires letting all the air out of the tire and reinflating so it "learns" it.
Maybe there is a similar process for your car. Try to find a service manual online. |

And they are class A fucking morons that do not know how to do it because "we can't do it" |

IF it has a self reset it will be in your manual. IN some cases you put it into learning mode then deflate the tire until it sets. Other cars you need a tool to get it to reset. As i said in the original post the procedure requires the key fob. My key fob broke several years ago. |

Without a key-fob you need either a Tech-2, Bartec, or other professional type scan tool, I haven't seen any of the cheapo's that do TPMS. Would any of the local parts stores rent this? I have a Pep Boys, O'reillys and Auto Zone nearby. I dunno, probably not, but you could try calling them. |

A little bit of googling turned up this image: http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/Rocket2005/2009-10-09_003550_image002.jpg |

Wwhat state are you in? If you are near a Discount Tire co. They have all the appropriate tools and should reset it for free.
Also if you have a Driver Information Center in your dash there should be a button on the turn signal arm that cycles through options. Cycle through until tire learn shows up, then hold down the set/reset button until the horn chirps. Unfortunately you need a Bartech tool to actually reset the sensors. |
