I streamed a movie earlier today and after it was done I had some major internet problems with pages not loading and the internet going on and off etc.  After a while of hit and miss searching I learned about flushing your computers DNS info (which i did) and now it is seeming better....at least for now.

What causes these problems?  Could it really have been from steaming a movie?  Is this fix permanent?

Streaming media shouldn't have anything to do with causing you to need to flush out your DNS.  Unplug your router and modem for a few minutes, then plug in the modem and wait a couple minutes.  Then plug in the router.  See if that helps any.  If not then you can assume its related to your PC and start troubleshooting it.
