LeCLAIRE, Iowa — A 1-year-old child from LeClaire, Iowa, was taken Monday to
University Hospitals in Iowa City for treatment of a severe dog bite.

Police and rescue workers were called to 1016 Davenport St. about 7:30 a.m. on a report
of a child being bitten on the back of the head by the family dog, said Sgt. Todd Johnson
of the LeClaire Police Department. The child was taken first to Genesis Medical
Center-East Rusholme Street, Davenport, and then transported to Iowa City.

The dog, a boxer, was taken to a veterinarian for a 10-day confinement period.
