| If you are a subscriber to Direct TV With 3-4 tv using satellite can you take one box with you, say camping and set up a dish to watch tv? |
|
My parents use directv. The main box is the one that receives the signals. The other tvs have basically a dumb terminal that talks to the main box in the living room.
So, I'd say you could take the main box and use that, one of the smaller ones likely wouldn't be of any use. |

That would leave anyone at home without TV. |

Is dish the same way? I have Dish. There are various ways it can be set up. You can have one receiver controlling several TV's, or you can have several receivers working independently. It depends on your wiring. There needs to be a dedicated cable between each receiver and the dish antenna (or multiswitch). I have 3 separate receivers, at 3 TV's, each with its separate cable running to a multiswitch in the attic. From there, cabling runs to 2 separate dishes on the roof, pointing at different satellites. The receivers supply power to the rooftop dishes, so there is DC voltage in the cable. They work independently. My system works whether just one receiver is turned on, or 2 or all 3 are turned on at the same time. I suppose one receiver could be taken to another location, provided you had a dish there that was aimed at precisely the correct location to pick up the appropriate satellite. I haven't tried it. |
