It is the the American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, Normandy, France, that honors American soldiers who died in Europe during World War II, it overlooks Omaha Beach. all those marble crosses...... they show the cost of freedom, and freedom has a very high price ...... another reason to remember those that have fought and died for something so precious - "freedom" you can click on the picture and look 360 degrees around on the left side of your screen there is a black tab, click it for a map, click the blue dots for different views from different places CLICK HERE FOR UTAH BEACH SITE CLICK HERE FOR Pointe Du Hoc Site where the 2nd and 5th Rangers came ashore & up the cliffs note: if you zoom all the way you can see the Ranger monument at the edge of the cliff a friend of mine scaled those cliffs that day, and I did not even know it until after he died ..... and he had received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star with 2 clusters (the 2 clusters denoting that he received the award a total of 3 times for “Heroic or meritorious achievement or service” ) |
