Got a phone call today from the NRA...They had me listen to a 1 min. spill by Wayne about how George Soros was working behind the scenes with the U.N. to take my HUNTING RIFLES with some U.N. Resolution to disarm the world namely the U.S. Citizens.

Well after the little speach the Operator(NRA Member Guy) comes on...offers me a three year deal for $85.00 so the NRA can combat the Evil George Soros and the U.N.  This is where I have FUN

I say first that I'd love to help out BUT...I don't own any HUNTING RIFLES, None that the NRA considers a Huntig Rifle  All I own are EVIL BLACK RIFLES.  And the guy starts stammering Uh...what kind of Evil Black rifles??? I replied AR-15s, and various other Military Style Weapons.  And he's like "Ohhhhh...those Assault Ban Weapons" (real snotty like)
This is when I went into my Rant: I ask why the NRA has chosen to protect only the HUNTING RIFLES,  and doesn't the NRA understand that the Second Admendment wasn't writen so my right to hunt deer would not be infringed...The Founding Fathers did'nt give a damn about hunting deer when they wrote the Bill of Rights.  Why can't the NRA fight to protect our SA rights for ALL Weapons and not just the Politically Correct ones  I told him there are allot of people in this country that own Guns and don't hunt...What about their guns???  He says "Oh...You mean for Personal Protection"  and I say Not Only them but sport shooters, collectors,  and people that just love to shoot.  Not everyone who owns a gun cares about hunting and if you care for the Second Admendment you will stop diluting it to Hunting weapons only.
You see that's how they got the AWB passed in the first place...The hunters did'nt care because they thought it did'nt affect them So the NRA did'nt get any support from them.  Don't you think you'll get the same responce from the paper shooters??? In the end the Goal of the Gun Grabbers is to get ALL Weapons...Not Just a Select Few.  That's the message that needs to be gotten accross.

I told him that the best weapon we have against the U.N. is Bolton and they need to lobby the Senate to Vote him in.  He is a strong SA guy who will work on our behalf as he always has...kinda shines some light on the Dems. and U.N.'s strong disapproval of him, doesn't it??? He agreed

I bought the 3-year membership anyways...Guess I felt guilty for my attitude.  I hate getting sollicited over the phone.  And I was in a foul mood anyways.  Maybe I over reacted,  I just know it struck a raw nerve...Oh Well

ETA Bolton not Volker  For what it's worth I Join every year and send donations when  asked...Well maybe not every time...that'd be like once/twice a month

The NRA is the sole entity who protects our rights on the national level.  Any other gun org. can only muster ripples in the HOR.  The NRA is where it's at and any changes can be made within.  Become a life member and start voting.

So the NRA finally started pounding on all the hunters trying to get them involved just like the people here wanted them to do...and what do they get in return?  More complaints.  Most of the NRA membership is "hunters" who don't care about the Second Amendment, personal protection, or assault weapons because even the Dems promise not to take away their guns.  Giving the "hunters" who don't care a wake up call is just what they needed.  Although I do agree that they should have included the other reasons as well.

The NRA was the primary force behind the expiration of the '94 AWB last year. The NRA made the phone calls, threats, and what-have-you that kept it from being re-enacted.

They scuttled their Lawsuit bill to stop the extension of the AWB.

Unless something bad happens they will have my support.

I have been impresed with the NRA since the Debate with the NRA president and the britsh bitch in London Wayne kicked her ass

You must not be a member.

I magazines I get from the NRA are full of their defense of "our" weapons.

PS: Either we hang together or we hang separately.

I just hate when they send me those god damn videos and collector's coins that I have no use for and then ask me to pay for it after they already sent it.  Why aren't they using ever last penny I send them to fight anti-gun legislation?  Instead they fill my mail box with what I consider "junk mail" for shit that I'm not interested in.  Sometimes I wonder if any of my money goes towards fighting anti-gun bs.

Because cost/return analysis has proven that the amount they get from those mailings far exceeds their cost. This is explained in the magazines periodically, but not as often as on here. There is no way they'd do that if it wasn't a sure thing on return for investment.
We all get junk mail from many sources. It's not that hard to drop one more letter in the trash. Gravity does most of the work for you.

You do realize, that its written into the postal code that any items recieved unsolicited you may keep for free.  And the sending party has no recourse.

www.usps.com/websites/depart/inspect/merch.htm

A company sends you a gift in the mail--a ball point pen, a key chain, a tie. But you didn't order it. What do you do? If you are the type of person this company is looking for, you may feel guilty about accepting the item without paying for it. Don't feel guilty! It's yours, and you are under no obligation to pay anything.

You, the consumer, may only legally be sent two types of merchandise through the mail without your consent or agreement:

   * Free samples which are clearly and conspicuously marked as such.

   * Merchandise mailed by a charitable organization that is soliciting contributions.

And in these two cases, you can consider the merchandise a gift if you wish. In all other situations, it is illegal to send merchandise to someone, unless that person has previously ordered or requested it.

These rules are codified in Title 39, United States Code, Section 3009. That section of the Postal Reorganization Act of 1970 incorporates these protections for American consumers and makes the mailing of unordered merchandise unfair methods of competition and unfair trade practices under the law.

If you do not wish to pay for unsolicited merchandise or make a donation to a charity sending such an item, you may do one of three things (in each case, by law, you have no obligation to the sender):

   * If you have not opened the package, you may mark it "Return to Sender," and the Postal Service will return it with no additional postage charged to you.

   * If you open the package and don't like what you find, you may throw it away.

   * If you open the package and like what you find, you may keep it for free. In this instance, "finders-keepers" applies unconditionally.

Furthermore, it is illegal for a company that sends you unordered merchandise to follow the mailing with a bill or dunning communication.

If you are aware of violations of the federal law prohibiting the mailing of unordered merchandise, or if you have personally had difficulty with such items--especially if you are sent statements demanding payment for the merchandise--you should contact you local postmaster or the nearest Postal Inspector.

+1 the hard part is knowing who to vote for on the board. I wish there was a way to get more info about the nominees than the bs the NRA puts out.

Sin_Bin is absolutely right. But not only is the NRA directly responsible for bringing about the sunset of the Assault Weapons Ban, they are also directly responsible for getting the Republican majority in the house after the AWB was passed. Bill Clinton has even attested to that fact. They have also fought tooth and nail to get 'Shall Issue' concealed carry in every state that it has been brought up. Remember the 2000 election? The NRA led a HUGE mobilization campaign to get members out to vote and have been credited by Republicans and Democrats with getting Bush elected. On top of that the NRA is fought to get Florida's self defense law passed, and they are fighting to get a bill passed in Texas that will allow people to carry handguns in their cars without having to have a concealed pistol license.

The NRA is the largest special intrest group in the nation and they are dedicated not only to preventing more gun control, but in expanding gun rights. Most of their efforts are directed at expanding citizens rights to self defense with a firearm, as well as preserving the rights of hunters and the availability of hunting lands.

The NRA is the 800 pound gorilla fighting for all gun owners.

I'm glad that you joined, but you need to check the 'tude.
