I've got "Culture Shock" right here.  Second Week of Deer Camp...I gotta move back to Michigan... I saw them somewhere up there once - maybe Sully's Log Cabin in Aurora, Wisc (close to Iron Mtn). Those guys are a hoot live! Backstop = Michigan resident for the first 41 years of my life. |
They usually perform at the Wisconsin State Fair. I remember playing one of their tapes at deer camp once in Mio, MI. I laughed a lot listening to their hunting stories. "Da deer got up and ran away wit my brond new tirty-tirty rifle." |
That was the name of that tape I had, Second Week of Deer Camp. Man, that was hilarious.

In the song Gufus hits a deer with his truck and it's the only one killed in camp for the season. this is true but only half the story. he went to the wayside bar to get more beer and had a few there to boot. but while he's there he starts talking to one of the strippers there and she says that she has never seen a deer camp and would like to. So he take his beer and the stripper out to his van and off they go to deer camp. On the way there he hits the deer with his van. He stops to check it over, so he's on the side of the road with a dead deer, a stripper, a van load of beer and had more than he should have to drink. so as he looks over the situation not wanting to stay long a car pulls up. Oh-no, he thinks it's the cops, guy gets out of the car, no not the cops, luckily. Guy asks him what he's doing with the deer, Gufus says it's all yours and hauls ass back to camp. He gets back to camp and they don't believe his story til he brings in the stripper. So the stories in the Yooper songs are more than true. I could go on but I got to get up at 5:00 am so I'm signing off. Fantom out.......... |
