Did a search, but came up empty, so hope it's no dupe.
We are working on a piece of software at work and got a request to change the date format from MDY to DMY. That got one of our guys to looking at what countries support which formats. He found this image: 
And then he found this screenshot of the "Unconfirmed terrorist video": 
Note the countries that use that format. Excuse me while I get some more tinfoil..... |

LONDON -- Police on Tuesday identified the man who blew himself up the previous night at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England, as 22-year-old Salman Abedi. CBS News confirmed Abedi was known to British authorities prior to the attack.
In a generic statement posted online, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) claimed responsibility for Abedi's suicide bomb attack, which left 22 people dead, including children, at one of the entrances to the Manchester Arena. |

Excuse me while I get some more tinfoil..... It isn't that uncommon - and has become more common in the modern computer age. I often use that notation, especially for naming files, as it orders them correctly. I've seen it used in writing more often over the last few years. |
