Not as killer as I thought it would be, but still hard. Been smoking for 38 years, short from a couple short quits. Just taking it hour by hour.

Thanks all. The cravings do hit hard, but a few deep breaths and finding something to keep me occupied is filling the void.

Yeah, I just lost 30 lbs. on Keto, don't want that back. I am trying to snack healthy when I do. If I gain some, I know Keto will get me back down.

Mom was 3 packs a day in 2007, quit using Chantix.

Quit cold turkey years ago. Never had any cravings or a desire to pick them up again. Drank a lot of water and ate apples. Cleansing the system was the thought. The physical addiction is gone in three days. After that, it is all mental. You can and will get it done! Also, you and those around you will never regret it.

I would wish you good luck but you don't need it. You have made up your mind to quit so you will. That what it comes down to.

Google "riding the wave to quit smoking". It will help with the craving.

I read a book about how addictions work, and your brain has a time clock that turns the craving on AND off. The craving will turn off, and you just have to hold off for a few minutes, and your brain will end the craving until it turns it back on. Eventually the "off" period gets longer and longer. At 9 days, you are in pretty good shape!

Read reading the wave. You are winning!

Stay busy, boredom will fuck you.

Haven't had one in 10 years or so, no desire to anymore.

I was a pack a day, I can't even imagine 3 packs a day, no time for anything else but smoking...

Never give up!

ETA... before these 9 days I did 4, then smoked during the weekend but quit again on the Monday. This is it!

You can do eeeeeeet!

It's hard but know this, the nicotine is now out of your system. Find something to preoccupy your self with when you get the urge.

I dipped and smoked for 17 years. Been without for over 6 months now. Yes, I still get cravings but when I'm looking at the cans of dip at checkout I'm like, yeah, but I don't need that anymore.

This right here.

Keep your hands as busy as possible. Half of quitting is keeping those bastards from reaching for a smoke constantly.

Tough it out for 30 days, without replacing smoking with chewing, and you're golden.

I quit August 21, 2005 (I used the patch for 4 days, so pretty much cold turkey) and haven't looked back.

Also, ABSOLUTELY NO "I'll just smoke on the weekends/after meals/after sex/in the car" exception style BS. They want you to do that so they can creep back into every day.

I smoked for 12 years. One half to one pack a day. Quit cold turkey going on 4 weeks ago and it's been pretty easy. I think I was just legitimately DONE smoking.

It seems the reason people have such a difficult time quitting is because they are trying to quit- not actually ready to quit.

Best  wishes for success, one thing I do recall is that three deep breaths every time the craving for a cigarette occurred in the first couple weeks did help.

When I quit a few years ago I bought a box of assorted Trident gum at Sams.  I would chew it like crazy but it kept me from smoking.  I also kept in mind that just one cigarette and I could not say it has been x number of days.  Stay strong and good luck!

One of the best decisions I have ever made.  It took a few tries for me but now I'm to the point that I find the thought of a cigarette repulsive.  I can honestly say I never thought that would happen.

Avoid your smoking triggers for at least a month. For me, it was drinking. Had to go on that wagon for awhile before I got over the cravings.

Was a smoker for 15 years. Now a non smoker for 20 years.

Stick in there.

Wasn't it Telly Savalas that substituted Loli-Pops for cigarettes when he quit? I just remember the anti-smoking advertisement that Yul Brynner made when he was dying from cancer. Just quit...you don't need them. You're gonna feel a lot better.

This exactly... I never told myself I'm going to TRY to quit, just that I'm going to quit.

Pack a day for 15years. Half of my life. I did the cold turkey thing about two years ago. Haven't looked back. I cravings will decrease more and more. Almost there OP.

After being smoke free free for almost 2yrs I started to notice a big difference in my breathing while doing cardio type stuff. Took a year but I saw i huge performance gain this season on my bike. Then I broke my foot
