Can we try this without some idiot posting something to get it locked?  Please limit derogatory comments to Mr DeNiro's political orientation, NOT his sexual orientation or dating life since I prefer that he be properly defiled, chastised and abused based upon his idiotic politics.

"De Niro is a staunch supporter of the Democratic Party, and vocally supported Al Gore in the 2000 presidential election (in Michael Moore's film Fahrenheit 9/11, we see a clip of De Niro standing next to Gore at a rally; Moore identifies him as "that Taxi Driver guy"), and John Kerry in the 2004 presidential election. In 1998, he lobbied Congress against impeaching President Bill Clinton (he is a personal friend of the Clinton family), and in August 2004 announced he would not collect his honorary Italian citizenship in person so as to avoid discouraging Italians living in America from voting for Kerry, following much controversy over the earlier citizenship protest."

I was going to point out that Deniro should be considered Tribecaweird, not hollyweird.

Personally, I care as little about the political opinions of actors as I do about the political opinion of the guy who changes the oil in my car.

Hmm.

+1.

But it does irk me when they are fawned over like they have some special dispensation of intelligence and we are supposed to take heed of their views.

But +1.

Just a little disappointing is all.  And it's hard to imagine an actor who's who has used guns more over the course of a career...  Of course, look at Richard Dean Anderson in Stargate...  I guess I just wanted DeNiro to be halfway cool instead of a liberal f#ckstick.

Yeah, but is the guy that changes your oil a close family friend of the Clinton's or is he capable of calling a press conference to broadcast his views nationwide?

ETA....more importantly does he date really hot and exotic super models?

Wow. You were running for political office!?

Really, though. I stopped paying attention to actors' political beliefs, and just enjoy what they do onscreen. Society seems to think that they're special, and that their opinions count more than anyone else's. I do not.

I have not heard Deniro make any un-American or anti-military comments.  In fact, he has always been very supportive of the US military.

I also have not seen him speak for any gun-grabber causes.

Am I missing something?

"Media players" do have influence beyond the the vote -  something the vast majority doesn't have.  Their opinion does carry weight & influence among those who make the rules we all have to live under.  I've become less inclined to fund people who use their $$$ to support efforts which affect my life in a manner contrary to my views, & which I do not have the financial power &/or access to counter.

Now, everyone is entitled to their political view.  I'm fine w/ someone voting their conscience, regardless of its juxtaposition to my own.  But they have more than the vote.  They have access & $$$ that I do not; their views carry more weight in the eyes of the law-makers than you or I.  For that matter, I'm opposed to big $$$ in politics in general, & should not have to continuously throw $$$ @ gov't to keep it off my back - a form of bribery, really.  This is chiefly why I oppose big $$ in politics.

Let everyone vote & leave it at that.  "Buddy" politics & big $$$ "political gifts" are screwing it all up.

Exactly.

We all know they're pretty much all fucked up, but are somehow still suprised when they have fucked up views.
