Getting sick of fucking with gas weed whippers and have been very impressed with DeWalt 20v line so I ordered one of their
20v brushless trimmer! $115 for the bare tool on Amazon Weed trimmer Out of the box assembly was easy, it comes in two halves that snap together and the front handle attaches with two bolts (tool included). Feels lighter then my gas trimmers. I cleared 1/8 mile of fence line, an aftermarket 5.0ah battery lasted 20 minutes with full power right up until it died. Powered though everything I would expect my gas trimmers to go through. Hopefully my man card is still intact DeWalt 20v brushless weed whiper |

I just ordered their 4 inch angle grinder. I have their impact wrench. Love that thing.
|
|
Might have to get one of these. My gas ones have pissed me the fuck off. I was a breath away from putting a rag in the gas tank last week and lighting it.

I use an electric lawnmower. When I buy a new string trimmer and blower they will be cordless electrics. I have quite a few 20Vmax batteries already.
|
|
I was wondering how the 20v versions of these were doing. I know the bigger battery versions they came out with got fantastic reviews but seemed more for landscapers
I need to see if they have a hedge trimmer in 20v. I can't stand the corded versions and do not want to buy gas. |

DAMN MAN! I got to get one of them! I have 5 20 volt bats, 2 still in the package.(xmas present) I have the 4 " grinder, sawzall screw gun, impact and others. I didn't know they made a weed wacker! I am done mixing gas!
Thanks for posting! |

I have been tempted to pick up a cordless Milwaukee blower and trimmer. Maybe next year.
Cheap engines and bad gas are going to make battery tools the best in no time. |

Greenworks has some awesome cordless outdoor power equipment. I have a few of their 40v tools like the polesaw and have sold others on these with one use!
I've noticed, Snapper & Poulan are rebranded Greenworks as well. Here's the good 40v string trimmer: about $180 on amazon Greenworks 40v Trimmer Anything Digi-pro seems to be their newer brushless stuff. They also have an 80v line that is absolutely amazing on the power, rivaling gas powered equipment... |

View Quote My wrist is jacked up and it makes my hand go knumb after 10 minutes. I might try one as I have 4 ponds to trim around and my gas trimmer pisses me off. a extra batt and I would be good as 30-40 mins is the most I can hold one. |

I've had the Black & Decker 20v trimmer for a couple years now.
Very impressed with it, and I do not have a small area to trim. I use it all over my couple acre property to trim some pretty tough weeds. Modified it to take my Porter Cable 20v batteries also. |
|
Looks nice, i should try one. I've been replacing my 18v gear

I ran a string trimmer for about 2 hours today. There is no way the battery will last that long. Also, I bet you can't remove the guard and run 8 to 10 inches of string out each side of the head. Run premix or go home. Stihl FS94R or Husky 525LS for the win.
Seriously, if I didn't have so much trimming to do I'd be open to a battery trimmer. |
|
I have a 20V black and decker that I got as a house warming gift. I thought It'd end up in the trash. 5 years later and still going strong. I dont have a ton of grass and it does the job just fine. The best part? Its starts EVERY FUCKING TIME.

View Quote And how many times did you need to fuel up in an hour? My gas trimmer will run 20-30 minutes on a tank, but I cant keep a refill in my pocket like I can with a DeWalt battery. Oh, and the DeWalt is hearing safe, no Ned to wear earmuffs in the summer heat |

I have a 40v ryobi, that thing is every bit as powerful as gas and a lot less hassle.
ETA The problem with a lot of battery trimmers is they let out a little line each time you let off, which would irritate me. I got the ryobi since you bump it to let out more line. I trimmed all of last year and still have line on the spool. I trim about 20-30 minutes every other week. |

I used a Stihl FS80 for about 10 years, and finally got tired of the annual bullshit session trying to get the carb to work after sitting for the winter. I used ethanol free gas, with stabil. Tried running it dry in the fall, mucho bullshit next spring. Tried leaving it full over the winter with stabilized gas, mucho bullshit in the spring!
This year, I said fuckit! Bought one of these: Greenworks Ran it the other day with a 2.0 AH battery for about 20 minutes, and it did everything my Stihl used to. Most of the reviews say the 4.0 AH batteries will go almost an hour, and I don't doubt it. I have three of their tools, and the 40V stuff kicks ass! We'll see how long the batteries last, as that will determine how economical they are to own. |

When will there be electric mowers and leaf blowers (cordless)?
Of all the BS enviro ideas and regulation, the sheer reduction of noise pollution would a Godsend. |

I'm heavily invested in Makita tools and batteries. I like my brushless 18V trimmer from them. I bought a Husqvarna AWD self-propelled mower with the Honda GCV190 four years ago when I bought my house and had to replace the carb this spring.

My Echo trimmer is 17 years old, the primer ball has be replaced twice but the carb has never been taken out after leaving the factory. Still runs like a champ. I buy pure gas at Country Mark gas stations 5 gallons at a time to feed my trimmers and tractor. The gas I mixed for 2 stroke is at least 2 years old. http://www.countrymark.com/countrymark/portals/0/91_PLUS.JPG View Quote |

I have an 18v Ryobi weed eater I use. I've been pretty happy with it for the last few years.

I haven't had a gas powered weedwacker since about 2001. I don't miss mixing gas, the smell and the noise.
Right now, I have an ancient Black and Decker 18v with a broken shaft that I splinted with oak strips and wrapped with 100 mph tape. I got the replacement 18v batteries from Amazon and so far they've been much better than the factory ones. Wife is embarrassed by my ghetto weedwacker, but it gets the job done. We have a small lot and I can trim the whole thing plus clean the sidewalks with the blower all on one battery. I also have the 18v leaf blower, 18v drill, 18v hedge trimmer, 18v utility saw, and 18v brad nailer. I've been happy with all of them. |

Interchangeable batteries is nice, until you have to start replacing them
I just picked up a 60V Greenworks trimmer and it's the coolest thing since sliced bread My dad has a Worx 24V trimmer that is also nice |
