'Bout a week ago I heard something large-ish going nuts up in the attic. I had set a couple of T-Rex rat traps up there because I had seen rat droppings previously. I had caught a rat in the early spring, and thought this was maybe another one. I had placed the traps on either side of the attic stairs, opposite the hinge side. I took about two steps on the attic stairs when my flashlight illuminated the long, hairless tail of an Oppossum! Something would have to be done!
The Possum would not calm down, since his foot was caught in the trap, and most likely broken, so other measures would have to be employed. I retrieved some Aguila sub-sonic .22 rounds, my Peltor electronic muffs, and my trusty Ruger Mark 1 target 6&7/8. Since the possum was right at the edge of the ladder, and since the ladder opening is very narrow, I eased up the left side of the ladder with the foul beasts muzzle inches from my person. I held the pistol down at my side, with the muzzle approximately even with his head, finalized my aim, and squeezed the trigger. Bullseye! Or in this case Possumseye, since I caught him about 1/4" inch above his right eye. Since it was a head shot, the vicious three pound beast thrashed around considerably. I called for my wife to bring trash bags and paper towels to clean up the mess and removed the miscreant from the trap. Now I'm covering the eave vents on each end of the house with hardware cloth. Hot, cramped work, but only the strong survive! Death to marsupials! |

Damn those guys are idiot to wait to last second to shoot. Hell less than 30 feet from that thing with a clear fucking shot I shoot. Not wait for it to charge. |

Shows them spine shoot an elephant and a hippo that aren't charging them.... And what the duck did numb nuts think was gonna happen by walking up to a Cape buffalo? Gonna pet it? |
Fun read.
