[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Decapitation (Page 1 of 3)

I was doing some googling and came across this, among other things..
My friend’s head came to rest face up, and (from my angle) upside-down. As I watched, his mouth opened and closed no less than two times. The facial expressions he displayed were first of shock or confusion, followed by terror or grief. I cannot exaggerate and say that he was looking all around, but he did display ocular movement in that his eyes moved from me, to his body, and back to me. He had direct eye contact with me when his eyes took on a hazy, absent expression . . . and he was dead.
http://www.damninteresting.com/lucid-decapitation Makes me wonder about people who have been decapitated recently by ISIS and the cartels.. I'm almost tempted to look for videos to see if I can tell if their heads show any sign of awareness. Kind of a morbid thing to think about. |

I'm not a doctor but from my limited knowledge of human pysiology and having butchered probably 1000 chickens in my life, it's almost certain that at least some of the victims of decapitation remain conscious for a few seconds.
the brain, and ocular system is all contained in the head, if the jolt of your spine being severed doesn't knock you out, you should stay awake and process for up to 30 seconds or so. You'll faint pretty fast without the blood in your head, but you're going to have a few seconds before that happens. chickens do it. they don't really walk around, the bodies flop and flap everywhere, but very often the heads will focus their eyes and you see the pupils working for about 10 seconds, they the dilate and defocus. you can see it happening. |

There was some scientist who was beheaded during the French Revolution. Before his execution, he told his friends that after he was beheaded he would try to blink his eyes as many times as possible before he lost consciousness, for scientific purposes. Supposedly his friends got in the front row and after the head was in the basket they jumped to the platform and saw him blink his eyes 13 times before he stopped, presumably dead. |
| My best guess is that there's nothing going on in any meaningfully conscious way. You've just rapidly lost all blood flow and pressure, you've immediately lost all sensory input from the information pathways traveling up the spinal cord, the neurons are irritated and angry and firing wildly and uncontrollably. |

The guillotine isn't ready. |
|
Some people die immediately, some are aware for a few seconds, some 10 seconds others 30 seconds and maybe a few last longer.
You have enough blood in your brain to be aware. Shock as well can take place but everybody is different. The French executed people with the guillotine until the late 70's. Numerous reports of heads being aware after it being severed. Not everybody, but some. |

This. IME, death is rarely instant...even in spite of some grievous wounds. |
|
There was also an experiment or two done where they severed dog heads and attached them to an artificial circulatory system.

There's a few stories like that from the French Revolution. Not in my top ten list for ways to check out. |

I honestly don't see how people can connect the OP's interest in an explanation of what has been observed to physically happen, to the OP being a killer in the making. That's a pretty far stretch. And from stories that others have posted, people who have personally witnessed it were very curious and "studied" it...does that make them potential killers, too?
Whatever...either way, I sure as fuck would never want to experience, nor do I hope to ever have a desire to witness it, because that would mean that there was some evil fucker out there who deserved it for some reason...probably because they hurt someone that I cared deeply about. |

I pick up bodies for a living. I've seen more than a few expressions on the decapitated that indicated awareness after the separation. The quickest death is a shotgun or high powered rifle to the base of the skull aiming up and forward at an angle to go from base of skull to above brow. Saw someone rig something up to do just that. The reason was to save their face, gases blew em up like a face stretched over a pumpkin, though.
To be completely honest seeing lots of death has pretty much just given me a list of ways it would suck to go. Daniel |

From your second link: "Smith bought a new Harley Davidson motorcycle about a week after he was released from the hospital, he said. Doctors cleared him to drive last Friday, so he'll be ready to go when his new bike is delivered. Trying to stop him would be a waste of time, Potts said. "He always said he wanted to die in combat or on his bike," she said." |

Also had one of the most beautiful TOW kills I've ever seen, 18 dudes in a flatbed trying to train a AA gun on our Bn. Super good guy, great Marine. I'm really glad he lived. |

People like the girl that hit him should lose their license forever, go to jail for a very long time, have all of their assets sold, monies that are raised given to the victim. |

This thread reminds me of the movie, "Reanimator", which is a real classic in itself but the Spanish dubbed version is a scream.
I'd post a link to the Spanish version on youtube but scanning through it I saw a decent pair of tittays toward the end so you are on your own. |
