I just assumed everyone knew when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.  I was watching this uber-gay shopping game show with my wife (quality time) and one of the questions was "What year was Pearl Harbor attacked?" or very close to that.  Out of the 3 people on the show, nobody knew the year (1947 and 1955 were answers given IIRC) let alone the month and date.

Those people are better with fashion and shopping, and know nothing about history or the military.

Ever see "Jay Walking" on the Tonight Show?  Truly scary.

It's kinda scary how most people don't even know the most basic historical facts.  I don't know why kids even bother going to school anymore, they don't learn anything.

I always wondered though how many people do they really interview before they get those types of answers?

You went to public school, didn't you?  So did I.  My guess is, not long.  Maybe an hour to get enough material to edit down to a 3-4 minute bit.

I can picture in 50-60 years the same show will ask about 9/11 and we'll get similar answers.

Hell, there are probably mouthbreathers right NOW, who can't answer the question:

"On what day in 2001 did 9/11 happen?"

Yep.  Most people are very, very, very ignorant of history

Personally, I don't understand it. There are people can recite the most inane facts about a baseball player, yet they are so poor at American history, it is incredible.

You know, after Sep 11 2001(or was it 2002.I forget)  everyone was saying "we will never forget" etc, and i took the "we" as those who lived thru it, or will tell our children about it. After a few generations, it fades.

In 75 - 100 years, unless your into history or have cool family stories or what not, the majority just won't know.

So thinks I.

And, where else are you going to get the latest cheat codes for your video games, and get to have oral and anal sex with girls who think they are still "virgins"

As an aside - Where the HELL were those girls when I was in high school?

You should have to answer THAT question and ten others like it (correctly) before you can cast a vote.  That would be almost as good as having to be 21, white and own property.
