Wait, so how are Colt and Grammar Nazi's the same? Grammar Nazi's want everyone to conform to standards of accurate grammar and spelling. Colt does NOT have standardized pin sizes. So wtf? ![]() I'm with Mark Twain on this one. Never trust a man that insists on spelling a word only one way. THose damn varying pin sizes. Damn them all to hell. (Have a few Colt things) |

OK, for those of us that don't keep up with all of the changes, could you be a little more specific? I have a 6920 I bought a few years ago and I thought the FCG pins were larger than standard and always have been. Did Colt change to standard at some point and then change back to the larger ones recently?
Sorry, but I am not following you. |

Oh, there is a "secret" clue on the 6940 that proves it is merely a variant on the road to the new PISTON COLT! Wait for it or regret it! No, it's not. Really. See, this isn't helping, what the heck are you both talking about. And what the heck is a 6940? New model? |

Doesn't make one bit of difference to me... Sounds like something that is a non-issue if you don't plan on making any changes that would require messing with pins. Yeah. I thought the stock trigger on my 6920 lower was great for a service trigger. Even if so, there are thousands of Colts out there with .172 pins, and there will always be manufacturers making triggers for those lowers, even if the amount produced goes down... |

I also bought several Colt LPKs from SAW Sales a few years back to ensure I had spares. |

So does this mean the non-spec 6920s are going down in price? I might have to keep an eye out for a deal. |

The day obama got elected I went on arfcom and lurked thru some Colt 6920 threads.
Based on some info I found, I called a place in texas, got a 6920 NIB for $1100 shipped. By the end of the week they were $1500. I only got it as a hedge against the day when the "assault weapons ban" comes back. I'd rather have an M14 than an AR, but I have to admit that it is a hell of a nice rifle and I'll probably end up keeping it. I think I'll stick with colt in the future, the extra $300 is worth it compared to the bushmasters I have owned, both in build quality and especially resale value. Look at it this way - $300 isn't a lot of money, it's like half of one car payment. ???? what is the point?? oh yeah... i could give exactly two craps what size pins my colt has. I'm just glad i bought it before the Great Obama Panic of 2009 |

Yeah, I'd snap up one of those "crappy" old large pin rifles if the price was right... ![]() I never said they were "crappy". But check Gunbroker and see how many "completed auctions" there are that didn't get a single bid at prices they were going for until recently. Prices seem to have peaked and with the new 6940 and the pin change, I wouldn't want to pay the substantial premium for an older version (even if the change may be minor in someone's opinion). Other than these are there other parts that are no longer interchangable between large diameter and small diameter Colt lowers? 1 PIN , HAMMER & TRIGGER Large Diameter (.170) SP63158 |

for all the colt coolaid dinkers.. Colt farms out their parts manufacturer to the cheapest bidder.. no matter what size bits they have on hand. Except they are still made to a standard, your Rock River parts are not. Ding Ding! People don't like the price but the quality is in a Colt. I can do some mods to colts to make them run better but I have to do MUCH less to a Colt then any other Manufacturer. Besides the shitty FCG pin size the Colt rocks. This Gunsmith recommends them. |

They still do not have Selector Stops, but are the oversized milled flat pads. There's there not wanting to sell to us mere civilians, lack of customer support, and there willingness to sell us out. |

I'll say one thing, I know Colt gets most of their stuff from CMT, but they still have some of the smoothest BCG of all the mfg when new.
They also don't have tight mag wells (of the 25 LMTs we've sent out this year, none would freely drop empty PMags). Colt, for all my complaints against them, does have the best QC out there. The only DI rifle I would consider other than a Colt, right now, would be the DD M4... and for the money (even at dealer cost) I would take the DD M4 over the Colt 6940. |
