I have seen a lot of defeatist posts on here that say the tea parties are worthless. I've seen more that indicate that shooting for a third party or advocating for the end of the two party system will be wasted effort. I want to make something abundantly clear about the tea parties.
In my mind, the reason why it is so important that these tea parties stayed bipartisan is that every time you advocate a movement in the name of one of these parties you exclude people. In my mind, the only way to bring people to the side of right, is to make sure you don't do it under the guise of "the right." Division is the politicians game, and its how 98% of incumbents keep their job with such a low approval rating of congress. The point of this post is to ask each and every one you to understand that there is a way to change the country with this movement. When my Christian brethren jump on an Atheist and commence to the hellfire and brimstone speech, I am saddened. That's not the way to bring anyone on board, and it certainly isn't Christian to condemn a soul to Hell. Your wrong. When we conservatives/libertarians trash people for not believing EVERYHTHING we believe, we are the same. When "if it's not Ron Paul, it's wrong" or when "if it's not Palin (Jindhal...insert person here) it's wrong is the attitude we carry, then we condemn OURSELVES to nothing but the same ole' thing. These Tea Parties have made a big wave, and it's just begun. Please get involved, and be inclusive. If someone is pro 2am and pro-choice, don't write them off. The only way you'll even have a chance to sway anyone to your beliefs is to give them a chance. If someone thinks "You don't need an AR-15 to hunt," then patiently explain to the the true meaning of the 2am. We have spent 100 years dividing each other on one thing or another. Lets' get together on this one thing. The .gov is WAY too big, and it wastes our money like nothing else could. If this is where we start, we can't lose. Please, if I've missed something or you disagree, get after it. |

Tea Parties aren't about guns, abortion, gay marriage, 1911 vs Glock, etc... They are about wasteful government spending. Anybody that wants to protest that should be welcome at a Tea Party. As far as the other causes go, leave them at home for the day. They just distract from the message that the Tea Parties are meant to send. |

The Tea Parties are not about politics as usual or political parties, per se. They are a gathering of people from all walks of life who are fed up with high taxes, wasteful spending, voting in large spending legislation without reading it, etc. Just irresponsible gov't. Those concerned about abortion, gun laws, etc., won't have a chance in hell of arguing those issues if our country is bankrupt, chaotic and run as an oligarchy. |

Frankly I hate both the Democrat and Republican parties, neither is looking out for America's best interests. Both parties spend recklessly, ignore their constituents, and don't care about the RKBA when the rubber meets the road. The Republican give us some "we're the good guys" speech, then spend as much as the Democrats in pork. They're Democrats Lite. Democrats seem to have no basis in reality and are pushing for socialism/communism/totalitarianism. The Constitution party is overtly religious for anyone that isn't Christian. Atheists and everyone else could care less about your God, leave religion out of it and everyone would be happy. The Libertarian party is completely out there for the most part. Chemtrials, Ron Paul and all of that insanity. In the end though I don't think a 3rd party is a viable solution. |

Why exclude like-minded individuals just because they might disagree with you on another issue like political parties? If I'm wrong in my understanding of what your saying, feel free to flame away, but if someone believes in their party above their own principles (like spending, big gov, etc.) than they are lost and unimportant to any cause. They will be wherever they will be, period. They will vote D or R regardless of policy, and are part of the problem. If at this point in our country, someone is STILL playing the R v D game, than only an awakening far greater than anything I or you could bring about would change them. All we can do is keep plugging along with the same message of right v wrong, not R v D. |
