Let me rephrase that.

Is there an online store that sells quality diamond stuff for reasonable prices?

Am I a cheap bastard for thinking that cubic zirconia looks just as nice for a helluva lot less money?

Not actual diamonds, but very, very close.  Read the fine print.

EDIT:  After reading the literature thoroughly, they are just cubic zirconia (ZrO2.)

Isn't Hatebreed a jeweler or a broker or something?

You might try contacting him.

I bought my wife's diamond loose, and had it mounted by a local jeweler.

It was less than half of the retail price.

www.dirtcheapdiamonds.com

This was four years ago, and after shopping around online for a week,
he was the cheapest.  And they all have access to the same diamonds.

The stones are all certified.  So you won't get ripped off.

I was terrified, so I had mine appraised by a local jeweler.  It was correct.

Dirt Cheap Diamonds also sells jewelery, so you can get your earrings there too.

If you buy them loose, you can get exactly the cut, color, clarity, carat weight you want.

If you buy his earrings, you get a matched set just like you would at a store.

(for a lot less than retail)

Good Luck

Where are you finding that?     Their diamonds cut glass - cubic zirconia doesn't do that, does it?

Man made, jewelry quality diamonds are available.  If I got the wrong website, fine.

Well, I suppose it will be a "real" diamond.

It will cost a lot more than it is worth. Lots of things do.

Kind of like buying a Colt AR.

Diamond Nexus Labs gemstones are created by a highly complex and patented process involving the growth of the engineered stabilized polycrystalline known as ZrO2. The geometrically exact crystals of ZrO2 are created under tremendous heat and pressure in a time-compressed process that is very similar to how diamonds are naturally formed.

CZ (Hardness: 8.5) will cut glass (Hardness: ~6)

The problem is, the odds that the woman would find out it is a man made diamond is about
the same as if she found out it was CZ.

Unless something has changed in the last year, jewelers can still tell man made from natural.

Either way, you would be screwed.  Women want the real thing.

Would you be happy with a Norinco 1911, if you really wanted a Kimber.
Let your wife buy the Norinco for you, and have her tell you that they are
really the same thing.

Russian Hand cut diamonds

You're right, someone has done it! - "Ultimate Created Diamonds" are
made in Russia and marketed by Alex Grizenko of Ultimate Created
Diamonds Co., Boulder, CO.
"Grown under the most controlled and demanding laboratory conditions,
the Ultimate Created DiamondTM is a perfect carbon copy of nature. To
emphasize that they are identical in structure and appearance to mined
diamonds, Ultimate Created Diamonds are cut to recognized standards of
perfection by top diamond craftsmen in Europe and America."
http://rcgems.com/credinfo.htm

"...Ultimate Created DiamondsTM have the exact same properties of a
natural diamond: the same physical, chemical, and optical properties.

Lucent Diamonds is proud to offer lab-grown diamonds that are
politically and ecologically correct. They originate in a laboratory,
not in a third world conflict nation, and they are not unearthed at
nature's expense...
