I traded a Ruger Blackhawm 9mm / 38 / 357 (plus some cash) for a S&W Model 637 Airweight 38. Yeah, I took a bath on the Ruger, mostly cuz I wanted the Smith for the wifey for CCW. Was I wrong to ditch the Ruger? Or wrong to let it go cheap?? Or wrong to get the S&W?? Am I doomed to gun hell, a world full of Lorcins, Jennings, Century's and Speshul Weppunz??? |
Never you mind that. It was more important to me to have a gun the wife would carry (she sez the Sig 239 I got her is "too heavy") She shot a 637 Air this past weekend and was decently accurate with it, she liked how light it was, and being a revolver it wasn't as imposing as a semi. |
OK, that's part of the question. I know the Ruger was a terrible thing to do. But S&W ain't exactly lilly white either. Have we forgiven Smith their transgressions??? |

For reference only since this is already a done deal, use SASS Wire Classified (Single Action Shooter's Society equivalent of the Equipment Exchange) for any single action or western style firearms sales. What you sold is listed fairly often and you could get a ball park of what to sell it for. You don't have to be SASS member to register and list items for sale there either. Registration is free. It is also a good place to check for AR15/AK47 & other goodies when one of the cowpokes wants to upgrade their cowboy goodies and needs the cash. The bottom line is that your wife has something that she is comfortable with and, therefore, will have available to use for that event that we never wish to occur. You cannot put a price tag on that peace of mind. My 2¢, wganz ¶ |
