I am saving up to get an M1 from the CMP and I am trying to decide which one to get(Service or Correct Grade). I do not know anyone that has bought an M1 from them so I was wondering if you guys could explain the details of the different grades to me. Thanks! |
| If you got the $$ get the correct grade. There was a time when the non-Greek USGI rifles were coming in you could get a service grade and many times they were all correct as the grading criteria at the time was for ME and TE. They added more criteria and a better break down of the rifles. I wish I would have bought a collector grade when they had them. But I have a few really nice USGI service grades that have pristine barrles and thats where it counts, Im lucky to have recieved the last of the non-Greek guns under the old grading system. |

Go find the gun pron thread from a few nights back. The Garand I posted there is an H&R Service Grade I received back in March. You can also search GD for my thread "US Rifle, Cal 30, M1 Garand (aka why I love the CMP)" or something like that. Pics there. My gun is gorgeous. I'd post pics but I'm at work. |
