[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Differential Gear pattern?

Here's a picture of the coast side of the gear. Backlash is .007-.009. I can move the pinion a tiny bit deeper and get a better pattern on the coast side but the line moves sharper into the root on the drive side.

Is this an acceptable if all other values are within?

Needs more toe. (Less pinion depth)

Need to shim deeper into the groove. (Move the differential with the side shims.)

ETA: The important question is, what will this be going in and what's the intended use?

Maybe move the pinion deeper .001 or .002. If it's going to get beat on, I'd like to see it a little deeper on the drive side. Just transportation? It will be OK.
New or used? Used gears can be a prick to get them acceptable.

it's a little shallow.

Under a load it will move even further to the outside.

Brand new, I'm gonna go a tad deeper which will help bring the coast pattern back a tad and call it. I think im in the neighbor hood. I seem to get that hard line at the root no matter how shallow I go, so Im just gonna stop worrying about it.

My first setup so I just wasnt sure.

Looks like an 8.25 chrysler. I would use it as is.
