I'm in the market for a new digital camera. My current one I got about 6 years ago, it's a 1.3 MP .

I really don't know what's good out there, I'm checking out CNET like always, but I'd like your input as well. I got good input when trying to find a printer, so why not digital cameras. I think I want something in the 4-5 MP range. I just take casual photos, not into  amateur photography or anything. I'd also like something compact.

For all your digital imaging needs- particularly, look at the pic samples from the actual cameras.

I just got a Canon SD400 camera a couple of months ago. Camera is capable of taking better shots than I can. Go to www.gotapex.com/ they usually have some good camera deals.

I'd check out the links in the black friday threads - if you don't mind getting up early - best buy, circuit city, etc will be having some insanely priced "door buster" digital cameras available.

If you're looking for a smaller camera (not necessarily small-priced), check out the Canon Digital Elph series.

How's about the Canon Powershot A610 or the Canon Powershot SD450?

Two days ago I picked up a Pentax Optio WPI.  I selected that one out of a field of, well, one.  Nobody else sells a waterproof one that isn't a very expensive diving model.

I'll let you know how well it survived the Maui trip (leaving on Thursday).
