Ribeye, medium rare, with grilled shallots. Rubbed the steak with salt, pepper, garlic.
Homemade Caesar salad (yes, with smashed anchovies). White sweet corn w/ butter and pepper.

The hardware: stainless Colt Gov't, Gladius light, two extra mags and a set of cuffs on a spare duty belt I keep in the trunk. CRKT Snap Fire folder, double blade cigar cutter for the Hoyo de Monterey Excalibur. ETA - almost forgot - there's a VEPR-K in there somewhere.

Sam Adams Octoberfest is in season and I'm enjoying it as I type this.

I really need to bring it out more often.

Definitely one of the best dinner pics I have seen in some time (even if I don't like anchovies and have no clue what shallots are).

-5,000,000 cause ya didn't invite me.

10 easy!!!!

Shallots = extra yummy onion like thingies. Tastes like a cross between an onion and garlic.  Used to grow them in my veggie patch.

Persephone, consider this a permanent invitation to dinner whenever you can make it.

You've made me smile plenty enough when I've read some of your posts, dinner is the least I could do! Problem is you've either got to get to Chicago or wait for my next trip to Alexandria to visit my sister's family. Search for my past dinner pic posts and let me know what you want for dinner.

Looks very good NPD!  I just had a plain boring steak for dinner.  How did you make the salt/garlic/pepper rub?

I mixed salt, garlic and pepper.

Ok... i tried being funny. Here's the dirt:

Technically, I use a grinder with sea salt for the salt, ground black peppercorns, and fresh peeled garlic that I mince. They all get mixed together. I splash a little olive oil on the steak, and then rub the seasonings. Ditto for the other side of the steak. Cook immediately, and the oil does 2 jobs - first it keeps the rub on the meat, second it keeps it from sticking to the grill.

Yup that's a 10.

Homemade caesar salad dressing is the only way to go.  Got to have the anchovies.  It doesn't taste right without them.  Oh and par boil the egg for the egg yolk.  Mmmm.

Holy crap, beautiful food.  The only thing I have an issue with is the corn.  That menu screams for a top shelf tater dish.

Outstanding!!!  The corn is something differentas is the homemade Ceasar salad.

Big points for ending a good meal correctly....by enjoying a fine cigar afterwards.  How was it, BTW?

It's very good. About 5 minutes into it, now. Posting from the laptop now since I'm out on the porch.

Felt wrong smoking the cigar w/o anything to drink tonight. I solved the problem by mixing up a captain morgan's mojito. Now I'm set for about the next hour or so.

-1 for serving the salad and the entree together, one or the other will wilt/ get cold before it can be fully enjoyed.

9/10

The salad's already cold, but it's okay, I prefer them on the table at the same time. I don't have to get up once I sit down, and letting a steak sit for 10 minutes isn't always a bad thing. Juices tend to run out if you cut it as soon as you pull it off the grill.
