Hey guys, A friend of my wife's and mine is probably headed for a divorce. I have seen many threads listing the steps that need to be taken immediately, if someone could link me to one and any one else that could give advice it would be appreciated. Quick background, - in TX - Friend is the wife, they have a young child - Adultery is suspected, but there have been no confessions/ revelation - He walked out this week Neither of the parties are members of this forum, but the lady is a close friend of my wife's and I am afraid her husband will really try to screw her over if he can. I always hate to read these threads but the advice has always been well reasoned and intelligent and I would really appreciate any help the AR15.com hive conscience can give. 96Ag |
if I were you, I'd offer consulation and thats it. Divorces should be between the two members without any outside influence or interference. That is what lawyers are for. |
Kind of my feelings as well, but I opened my big mouth about the advice that I have seen here and 97Ag asked me to ask again.  So far as I can remember some of the steps are to 1. Get lawyered up 2. secure all joint accounts 3. change locks on doors 4. call another lawyer 5. don't do anything psychotic 6. maybe call another lawyer 7. change direct deposit to another single user account 8. don't write anything down or let yourself be taped with things that could hurt you 9. document, document , document to show malfeasance on the other party 10. secure joint credit cards Anthing that I missed? I would really appreciate a link, since I can't search GD until I send some money to the powers that be. 96Ag |
| Don't try and coerce the kids. I think you have most of them covered though. It may seem like its the end of the world for them but its been done hundreds of thousands of times before and it will happen again. The best thing to do is to try and minimalize the damage which you seem to have covered. |
