Yep talked to him on the phone the other night. A couple others at the gym that I chat with all the time, they’re usually asking me to find them guns or put something together for them

Been sleeping with her for 30 years. Was a little conflicted on how to answer your poll.

The last one I worked with was my father's estate attorney. He filed probate in wrong state.
ETA>> LOL, my mother is an attorney. Good person but we disagree on nearly everything social, legal or governmental. I'd rather call in my cat then her for legal advise. |
A good lawyer is like a good gun.
If you’re not familiar with either when you need them, you’re going to find yourself in real trouble |
Yes i do. He was brought up turning wrenches and morphed nicely into a no nonsense friend and my lawyer. Oh and he's armed to the teeth
Yes I do. used him for my last divorce and will use him for my next one.
she stopped putting out. Became entitled. What is it with women that they think they can change the game ? i was watching S1 true detective where woody was banging his secretary, and his wife gets mad at him and says "of course we dont fuck like we're in our 20s!' WHY THE FUCK NOT? im going to be a passport bro from here on out. |
I hadn’t used mine for about 2 years after my divorce. Called her two days ago regarding a separate matter and she immediately got on the phone to advise about said matter. Still worth the retainer.
5/5 would recommend. |

No. I get arrested for something I didn't commit I'm stuck with a public defender.
Family business attorney.. He writes letters and does referrals but basically no trial work.
Yea. He brought me a couple bottles of liquor yesterday for Christmas.
Close friend. His specialty was workers comp. If I got injured at work, he was the man. If I needed a ticked fixed, he had no clue. He was very specialized. Retired now. Well almost. He helps out advising his old firm crew a few days a week. I tease him and told him he can’t even do retirement without fucking it up. |

Quoted: This is how you know who is adulting and who isn’t. When asked you have a name, number, and relationship with the person. Lawyer, Insurance, Accountant, Primary Care Physician, Dentist, Pharmacy… there are probably some others. View Quote Or how you can tell someone is a geezer/stuck in the past. Living right, using available tech resources, and doing a little research can generally eliminate the need for all of those except for perhaps a dentist. |

LOL Only fat or old people with the resultant chronic conditions need a regular pharmacy or a PCP. You don't need some insurance agent in a strip mall when you can just shop and sign up online. Just call the appropriate number if you have a claim. There is ample information out there for someone that doesn't have an extraordinarily complex situation to DIY whatever they might hire an accountant to do. |

I voted no. But in reality the brother of a very good friend is a firm partner level lawyer. I'm sure I could get a consult with one phone call. Just never had to.
Used to but he retired. Then I used his partner awhile. Then he retired. Now the firm is shit

GD answer = I don't need a lawyer. I get all my legal, medical, and financial advice from GD

My life isnt that exciting to the point I routinely need to call lawyers at 2am.
I consider this a good thing. |
My sisters an attorney out of state. We are friends with a local attorney that did our trust who seems to know everyone in town.
I have been a client with a high end firm in Naples for years. Yes, in today's world, you need representation that knows you.
Have 3 lawyers on retainer. One is family trust attorney one is a business/real estate attorney 3rd is a cutthroat defense attorney.
I’ve had to call the defense attorney in my younger days and he or one of his partners have always sorted me out quickly. |
I'm married to her.
If she can't take care of the problem, she knows someone who can. |
I'm a lawyer. If you have my cell number you can call it at any hour, but I go to sleep early and I'm a deep sleeper. If you don't have my number and you send me a Facebook Messenger message I will ignore you for at least a day, then tell you to call my office number. I have 5,000 "friends" on FB and it seems like each one of them thinks they can get emergency service by messaging me.
But yes, if you have my cell number I will help you out while I'm awake. |

You call the first person you find on Google when you have a self defense situation. Or you gonna just google and represent yourself? I'd ask people in the appropriate jurisdiction for recommendations. It doesn't do much good to have a "relationship" with an attorney in one place (if he's even competent in the needed specialty) only to be involved in an event in a neighboring state where he's not able to practice. The odds of being involved in a defensive shooting are extremely low to begin with. They're even lower when you avoid trouble and are experienced in de-escalation. I live in a small, peaceful town in a small, peaceful county. I avoid big cities and places that are high risk for crime. My odds of getting raped by Sasquatch are probably comparable to my odds of having to shoot someone to defend myself. |

Don't be Mike Tyson. Mike Tyson went to jail because he had a great lawyer. One of the greatest. At tax law and white collar crime in a federal court. He knew nothing about defending a scary black man in a Marion county courtroom.
You need a criminal defense lawyer who has done many affirmative defense cases. The kind of case where you admit you did it, and then spend a couple of weeks explaining why it was justified. If you buy real estate, you need a real estate lawyer. If you plan on dying, you need an estate lawyer. If you do business you need a contract lawyer. If you can't get along, you need a divorce lawyer.\ You don't just need a lawyer. |

Why would you need a phone number and relationship in advance of the need? |

Why would you need a phone number and relationship in advance of the need? Really? You yourself saliently pointed out the case for needing lawyers competent in the pertinent specialty. |
