Going to say I had; I did not know it at the time....it was my grail gun.
it was nothing special, except for me. Simple smooth bore 20 ga deer / bird gun. The sights were set up for deer, but with a smooth bore it was perfect for partridge hunting. When I was deployed to Wash DC area, the firearm got recycled due to mechanical issues back on the farm. Boy did that shotgun earn its keep based on how often the family used it. I could never find the same style shotgun on the used market. |

Quoted: It completes the look Have to be careful now, as there are a ton of Chinese knockoff S-1 bipods in the market. Even some of the SVD and AK parts dealers in Europe got tricked into buying them and they were sold as the real deal pre-COVID. My grail gun would be the XM-177E2 I was issued back when I was cool. I'm sure the Clinton administration crunched it.

I have been able to obtain about a half of a dozen of them in the past few years. Nothing too ambitious, but just thing I had wanted for few decades.
Paying off my house a little over 5 years ago helped. |

Quoted: Yes, and no, as I keep having Grail guns View Quote I mean, I'd love to have an SVD. There's a bunch of other stuff I'd like to have more, so for me these would be some cool ones I don't have: 1. Stechkin APS with stock/holster 2. Stoner 63A with all the other parts 3. StG 44 4. HE 40mm rounds for my M203 5. M134D Minigun - cannot afford to feed it though lol 6. M2HB -would be able to feed this one a little 7. M32A1 (if I could obtain #4) 8. Barrett M240LWS (since it's better than the M240 but uses its commonly available parts like barrels) TDP/IP of this design is now owned by Geissele, who doesn't sell any AFAIK. 9. PKP or PKM 10. Barrett M107A1 11. SVD is down here for me. (Maybe SVDS instead, but I think the original first because OG DMR) I'm fortunate to now own a bunch of stuff on "grail gun" lists, including my old list(s). I remember when I was 20 and never thought I'd have an HK Mark 23, but then I traded into one and it was amazing. (Still is!) Full story is the frame cracked on that one, from some factory ammo Kb'ing. Ammo importer bought me a new one. I sold it and got another old(er) one with the Maritime finish and no safety lockout on the mainspring housing. The first one had the Maritime finish, but also some other guy's name laser-engraved on the slide like a billboard (and it'd rust there). It's the best handgun suppressor host I've got. Huge but shoots almost like a rifle. Badass in the dark with IR. Badass with .45 Super. Can mix-and-match Supers and subs in the same mag with the same recoil spring! |

No, it’s unlikely that I ever will either because it’s an MG42.

I had to think about this a bit, my true “grail gun” is unobtainable for the most part, Stoner 63A.
But a gun I’ve want for a long time is a 300 WSM AR, which I’m in the process of building. I guess it it a grail gun in a sense. |

Not so much a grail gun as I wish for guns no longer made.

no. a stacco is on the short list. not sure what my "grail gun" even is. lots I want. I'd love a pretty #1 in a normal popular caliber like .223,243,308 or 22-250. sig 55something. ACR, MP5 etc.

If a genie granted me a wish? A transferable mini gun. I saw one fired at bullet fest. It was beautiful.
I saw a 249 that took an HK sear, but I didn't see it fired. I've shot m16s. I think that's something I'd shoot a lot |

No, my grail gun is a minigun.
I do own one I wanted a lot. Had a mp5/10 built from a new German barrel some years ago. |

I wanted a Holland & Holland double rifle in 7.62x54R.
Those snooty Englishmen refused to build it for me after I told them that I planned to use surplus steel cased Russian ammo. |
|
I do not, but I'll pick one up eventually. It's just a WW2 (or prior) vintage 1911. Every time I find one for a reasonable price the funds aren't really there, or when I have the disposable funds, I wind up buying yet another S&W wheelgun. I'll make it a point to find one this year, though.

Sort of. I own an HK SP5 and SP5K (and an MP5-22 and MP5SD-22). If they had the fun setting on them they'd be full grail guns. But I'm not complaining!

My realistic grail gun for many years was an M14 (semi-auto) clone, which I now own.
My unrealistic grail gun remains an original M1928 Thompson. |

Many moons ago I thought the FAL was a grail gun for me. I was in heaven when I bought my first one. A few more FALs and a few more years under my belt and I discovered that the FAL might be rugged, but it wasn’t very accurate.
I suppose I do own my grail gun, and I bought it a dozen years ago without knowing it. It’s a DPMS in 6.5 Creedmoor. It’s simply accurate with factory ammo and with my reloads. |
