Ok so taken into context I have shut myself off from almost all social interaction for the past 4 days, working on this paper... Im working on a 30-35 page paper for United States National Secuirty Policy in Nigeria and Angola, pertaining to our current interests...mainly energy in the Niger Delta region...now, going on day 5, I have this strong urge to just start drinking...anything with booze, actually a whole 6 pack of Dos XX sounds really good while i eat and drink my way through the remainder of this rather depressing compilation. So what say you? Have you ever drank while working, home, at work, on something important, etc, got any good examples or stories? For clarificaition, I am NOT AT WORK, this is a paper for college, and while I take it as work, its not a life dependant issue, im just curious who has or any stories? |

On the job? Couple times. These were enforced times, though (we were all taking shots of Jamisons during an especially tough meeting, including management. The meeting went much smoother about 20 minutes in.) After work, then going back? Oh, hell yah. Half the coders, and the admins (me), would go to the local pub, get sloshed, and head back to the office around 6-7pm...spend until 11 or so at work "getting sober" (coding, fixing, etc). Half the time, brilliant things were done. The other half, we spent weeks writing fixes for. Wouldn't give any of it up for the world. Flying by the seat of your pants? Nah. I preferr cannonballing by the seat of the ballsack. Much more fun. YMMV.  |

hHAHA Ed, I like the story. Also I can understand wanting to have all my fingers at the end of a day... Currently, I am working on 2 SPATAN Premiums while boling a few brats in a tall boy of Henie I didnt feel like drinking...(those SPATAN's make the Heineken look like bud light when next to them) Will see how the remainder of this Nat'l Sec Policy Paper comes out tonight... |

About..uh..a little over 18 or so years ago. I was drinking all the time at work. The "boss" didn't care because he was drinking too. Nothing like crackin' the top off a bottle at daylight, drink all day long, framing houses, 'til dark. Then go home SSS (shit,shower,shave..not the otherSSS) go to the bar 'til at least 0300 then do it all over the next day. Did that , everyday, for about 4 yrs.  Oh, to be young and stupid again  |
Make sure the Captain has his logbook in order. And he could be driving while you sleep, so it may be more productive.  I used to drive an 18wheeler, but now its a bus and sometimes a drunk-van. When the drunks get on and ask if I have been drinking, I always reply "I only drink when I drive." Some don't get it. But I have never drank on the job. Wait, I might have at 16 working a burger joint, I really dont know or care anymore... |

When I used to work for a startup telecom company, we had a three tap kegorator open all of the time. Then we were bought by a bigtime operation and that all came to a halt. Fucking corperate suits ruin everything. We were pumping out product and raking in the cash. Then we were bought, corperate straightjackets were issued, and productived came to a halt. About a month after I bailed out, the whole group was shitcanned and the product was sent into sustaining in Romania. Fucking suits.

Sure. In Denmark, it's not unusual at all to have a beer with lunch when you are at work. Now that I do much of my work at home (i.e. reading, designing studies, data analysis, writing, etc.), it sometimes help me to unwind and write better if I have a beer while I am working. Another benefit of working at home. If I get tenure, I'm putting a frige with beer in it in my office. |
| I am on call right now. It has been 6 days without . I am subject to company drug testing and DOT drug testing. Sometimes both at the same time so then i get to piss in 2 diffrent bottles. I wonder what would happen if pass one set of test then fail the other. The company test also is a breath test too. |
Just curious, does the booze in your urine show up enough on a drug screening to count as a failure, I dont do drugs at all so I have never worried about failing a drug test, I never drink during the sun light hours its always at night like tonight (im also not at work) but im just curious what some company would do if excessive amounts of alchy showed up... |
