Was helping a friend pack up a storage unit to make room in his house, and a big portion of what he was putting into storage were empty boxes. I think I even saw a VCR box in there somewhere, I never got the concept of keeping shit like that...he insists that it's in case he has to send it back.

I have so many boxes sometimes I think I need to seek professional help. I will say this: If I have to ship something, small or large, I probably have a box for it. Are you him? Why do you keep them, he's paying for a storage unit for empty boxes! That's just crazy to me.

Yep. Guns, scopes, all my electronic equipment, any boxes that make it easy to pack the original stuff back in for moving. These all go in the attic so it is no burden. If I was moving or putting in storage, they'd have stuff in them.
I also keep a stash of empty boxes around in the garage for shipping stuff that I sell from time to time. |

Thanks OP. |

Only for guns and scopes. But the truth is, we keep other boxes as well, to pack stuff into. I helped move my Mother from one town to another. A whole house full of stuff. She had boxes full of empty boxes. About the fourth trip into the moving truck with a load of boxes full of empty boxes I lost it and started ranting.

Serious question: why keep the gun box? Quoted:

Only for guns and scopes. I only keep boxes for things that I think I may need to warranty (printer, etc) or boxes that are good size for storing things. No need to keep my gun boxes as they were lost when the canoe flipped over ... I would have never sold them anyway.

Only for guns and scopes. Any time I sell a firearm, I sell it in the factory box, if the firearm came in a factory box. Sadly, I've had to sell a lot of firearms. The buyers always appreciate getting the factory box. |

Only for guns and scopes. I was going to sell a firearm once. The guy asked if I had the box? That was years ago and I saved every box since then. I don't know if it even matters, but it stuck with me. |
