Our community pretty much funded Fifi being maintained in the years after it was initially 'restored'. Museum was built around it, was happy days and a cool piece of West Texas. Then, the director of the museum decides his wife wants to live in Dallas, instead of Midland, and they take Fifi and all the good planes with them. Basically looted the local museum in preference to the one out east. They lost 6 figures worth of fundings and grants that were in process when they did it.
To be quite fair, great cause and I love seeing these fly, but fuck the Confederate, oops I mean Commemorative Airforce for pulling that crap on it's home community. They don't even bother to fly it back here for our yearly airshow anymore. |
