Just saw a Challenger in LE service. Pulled over and talked with the Marshal and he said that it is in fact a police package. It was the 12th one built and the first one with an overhead light bar set up. Said it was bought thru a Dodge dealership in the Metro plex.
Anyone else seen one? |

I wouldn't mind having my head slammed on the hood of that cruiser!

In Florida, you never know what the COPS will use next. They have trucks, SUVs, sports cars, rice rocket motorcycles, old beaters you name it! I saw one in a fucking honda civic a couple months back Shit, all cops should drive one IMO unless you're some special unit (K9, SWAT, Etc.) |
| Yeah, and I am sure the douchebag with the LIDAR gun in the one pic NEVER drives over the posted speed limit in it unless he is en route to a legit call. Fucking hypocrites. It is all about the $$$ so let them drive shitboxes like most of the Euro police services do. |

What a good use of my money... This I bet they get those cars cheaper than a CV. Earlier this year I bought 4 supercharged Hemi Charges for $19.5K each and had them spec'd em out with everything but computers and weapons for another $3500. Thats a $23,000 marked squad. |

Most police Chargers are the V6. Our Constable used his own funds to buy a police spec Charger with the SRT8 engine in it while the rest of the cops got the 6. His is totally decked out with the ballistic side panels and everything, kinda funny considering I know the guy and he usually just runs down school skipping kids. Daniel EDIT: Hard to believe that 23k bought the big bad SRT8 engine version as well. |

Quoted: With no back door, are they just pursuit cars like HP Camaros? guess so just like the old camaros and mustangs now I realize back in the 90s there just wasn't much for powerful sedans out there but that offers nothing a charger can't do besides look cooler and probably cost more money |

I'd really like to see what you got for your $$. What S/C did you get with them? I have an 07 Charger, (that's where my screen name comes from) I'm very familiar with the LX line (Chargers, 300's, Magnums and LY Challengers) and options for them. 23k with a super charged 5.7 sounds cheap, so I'm a little skeptical. I know fleet purchases are usually a better deal but the super charger is what's throwing me off. |

Quoted: Quoted: With no back door, are they just pursuit cars like HP Camaros? Chevy makes pursuit cars........Mother MoPar makes Interceptors....... I'm not sure about what moniker their slapping on cop cars these days but traditionally Ford made Interceptors and MoPar had Pursuits. The fastest cop car for years was the '69 Dodge Polara Pursuit. They're probably just grabbing whatever term they want these days. 1969 was the year of the ultimate squad; for a quarter century afterwards, nothing could match its performance capability - the 1969 Polara Pursuit. This was the apex of the high-power era, the last year before lower compression engines and tightening emisions requirements. The 1969 Polara Pursuit, with its 375 bhp 440, sleek new "fuselage" bodystyle, and standard 3.23 axle, could do 0-60 in 6.3 seconds, the quarter mile in 14.3 seconds (at over 99 mph), and run out to a top speed of (or, by some accounts, above) 147 mph! |

This makes me angry. I'm so sick and tired of the outrageous waste of taxpayer dollars by our government. Base sedan with AC is sufficient and will provide the most useful service over the life of the vehicle. ETA: Make that GOVERNMENTS! You got your city police, your forest preserve police, your county police, your lottery police, your state trooper polIce, your federal alphabet polices and the multiples or others. All of them sucking the taxpayer teat. We are dead broke in this country and this bullshit continues. |

Or that they need a cage for transporting suspects? Or that the additional electronics like radios are needed? Nor the beefed up wiring and generation (alternator and inverters) to support the electronics? Nor a spot to securely mount an long gun in arms reach of the driver? RR |

RR Yes, police vehicles need the items you mention Not a thing you mention has anything to do with spending tax dollars on two door hardtop or a $50K SUV. Where the hell do you put the perp in a dodge challenger. Oh that's right, just call another cruiser. This is a rediculous waste of money. |
