Nothing is hard. They're a blast to drive and own.
I know of a few for sale. Are you looking at the one in La?
Plus:
Small. Only 4 tons.
Easy to drive.
Can drive solo.
Park in a garage.
Move around by any 3/4 ton truck
Parts still widely available.
Reliable.
5000 or so made in good ol' sunny UK
Transmission automatically adjusts for wear
Engine is superb and a rolls Royce i6
Cons:
3 can fit in it but only 2 comfortably
Leak oil everywhere
Easy to drive but it's not a manual. It's a pre select transmission. Don't use the shift pedal as a clutch pedal. You'll burn out the bands and they're a pain to rebuild
55 in forward and reverse
They attract attention like honey and flies

Thanks for the information.
Eta.
The only ones I know of are from Khaki imports.
I decided that I wanted to get something that was wheeled and armored. I figured a ferret was probably the easiest to get into. I haven't been able to find any M3 Scout cars. Heck. I even found a listing for a Cadillac Gage but that was disappeared.
I figured something like a wheeled armored military vehicle would make a nice retirement gift.
