What breeds are you interested in? Or if you don't know, what characteristics would you like your dog to have or not have?

This is my Doberman. Her name is Salem.

I live in the city but go out to country property throughout the year and hunt. I would like a dog that I can have in and around both settings. I have had pitbulls as a teen which fit the bill but was thinking of going a new route in breed.

Do you have a size preference? Do you need a dog that is quiet, or is some noise ok? How do you feel about shedding? Do you want a dog that will actually hunt, or just one to keep you company?

Meet Hank, our mini-dachshund.  He is a red pie bald color.  He is absolutely positive he is as big our Buster our 90 pound Lab.  Since I retired Hank has become my shadow.  He is a wild man and will chase squirrels and Jack Rabbits with the best of them.  It is amazing how fast he can cover ground.

Ragnar. Red Mountain Cur. Good for hunting things that can't fly, guard dog, general farm dog. Curs absolutely have to have a job or they will get sad, then mean, then destroy all your shit. Great in cold or hot weather, tough as nails, smart as can be, typically around 85-90 pounds.

Make sure to consider the dogs needs above what you want/like in a dog.

Took Duke (rescue catahoula) out surfing on a small day.  He's a sinker.   My other dog would need to be tranquilized before I could get her in the water.

My other dog, Kindi.  She's a mutt/anchor puppy from Baghdad.  This is when she was still cute and cuddly.

I'll get back to you on the picture.
Currently my dog (female black lab) is quite busily engaged in licking her ass - and making disgusting snorting noises while she's at it!

There's Daphne who is a Border Collie/Standard Poodle mix. She's about as tall as most dogs in the 40-50 pound range though it doesn't look it here. But she's skinny as a rail under the fluff and just a bit over 30 pounds

And Gabe the miniature Dachshund with Daphne when she was younger. Both live at my parents house and I can't wait to see them both again. The had both gotten into teh grease trap under the grill before the picture which is why their fur is so weird.

Better pic of Daphne's size. She's hard to get a good picture of because she's naturally blurry.

Love Dobe's. My grandparents had them and they were all sweet to no end. Though none of them would tolerate you deciding not to pet them when you were in my grandpa's chair. They actually helped me get through his death. I liked to sit in his chair, watch football and pet Heidi and Greta the whole time. Just like he did.
