Which do you prefer?
I'm gonna guess dogs are going to be the winner.

Cat's are republicans.  Independant and self thinkers

Dogs are Democrats.  Needy and pack mentality.

Dogs, my dog will protect me. In the last eight years, he has alerted me to prowlers, attempted car thieves, all he wants in return is for me to kick a ball around for him, and to take him for rides in my truck, and food of course.

Cats will, if your house is on fire, do everything in their power to get out, only after failing will they go wake "stupid".

When a cat looks at me, I'm gratefull they cant get in the knife drawer, if I died alone in the house with my dog and cat, the dog would cry mornfully and try to summon help, the cat would start eating me......

Yes.  Pathological dislike of a harmless domestic animal should be high on the list of reasons to "trust" someone.

Before shaking hands I generally engage in a bit of verbal jousting to find out a man's opinion on capyberras and voles as well.

That's cool, I don't trust anyone my "watchcat" Milo doesn't "approve".

I think he may have "saved" me from an attempted rape... or really, more likely from a civil suit `cause I killed an attempted rapist I had already went through where all my weaponry was in relation to where _I_ was, and where the dishwasher "repairman" was.

Milo had started this high keening/growl thing the INSTANT this joker came into the apartment. I wasn't really worried (concerned, yes, worried, no) but MILO WAS. Eventually he launched his formidable (at the time) Garfield-like cat body off of the back of the recliner at the guy and was biting his forehead, had front claws dug into the sides of the guy's head, and was "thumping" the guys chest w/his hind claws. He (Milo) drew blood. I was so busy appologising to the guy (and putting Milo in the bedroom) that I didn't notice the dishwasher was "miraculously" repaired all of a sudden and the guy was GONE. Half figured he'd file a suit. (And frankly, with good reason) But he never did... which further led me to believe that he was "up to no good".

He's only acted that way w/2 guys, and no women (though he DID "snub" a couple of women ;).

Frankly, I wondered about both IN GENERAL, not so much w/regard to myself - except I guess the repair guy.

I'll take a good attack cat over a dog any day (not that a dog couldn't probably "take" a cat, mind you... though Milo... I wouldn't place any bets AGAINST him, he had my roomie's doberman cowed....

But they smell better and are just more "self-sufficient" in general.

I like cats.
I strongly dislike dogs.
Dogs eat vomit and crap,  bark all night at anything or nothing at all.
They are constantly running wild, chasing, attacking, biting and basically acting stupid.
I especially dislike dog owners who take their dog to the park and encourage them to climb up on picnic tables and lay there with their shitty assholes right on the table where people eat. Then they parade around and smile like their dumb ass dog accomplished something.
I encourage people to run dogs over at every chance.

I like both, but right now I only have a cat because I live in a tiny 1 bedroom apartment. It's really too small for even just a housecat.

Have 2 cats right now.

Have "let" my family "talk me into" getting a German Shepherd (from a hell of a bloodline, I might add).  Of course, it's just to appease them.

I cant even tell you how many people I know who have had their dogs bite their own children and even them. I have been bitten before...simply riding through a residential area on a bike.
Dog lovers think that everyone has to love their pet as much as they do...they just turn them loose in public places and let the dog sniff peoples asses.I saw two yuppies at a reststop in Ohio turn two big dopy dogs loose on this young couple who was watching their toddler and eating lunch outdoors. The people with the toddler were pissed.
The dog lovers cant read the giant yellow sign..."ALL DOGS MUST BE ON LEASH".

Cats, useless for anything, unable to learn even simple tricks (SEC is the exception), stink up the house and care for no one but themsleves.
Democrats

Dogs, faithful, far more intelligent (Yup, look it up), quite useful for a very wide variety of tasks. Willing to work with others for a common goal, respects authority and obeys rules.
Republicans

On the other hand I have always heard cats are for artists and dogs are for soldiers.
Hmmm.... who might be our resident playwright?????

Definitely a cat person.

I really do hate dog lovers that just HAVE to have everyone else love their pets as much as they do.  I might consider a dog later on, but not a stupid yappy one; one that's low maintenance, obedient and useful.

I think cat owners are also far more sane.  I have never seen a cat with painted claws, bows in its hair or wearing a sweater.

Hyper as a Motherfucker, generally and if you live in a southern climate the summer temps can kill it.  Good dog needs alot of play and attention and exercise.  Try running with one you will never get them passed a gallop they are incredibly fast.

Tell that to the Marines....

Training Cats for the USMC

And both of my cats come when I call them. And the youngest, Tiernan, rolls over for my grandparents. But I tend to not TRY to "teach" them unpractical "tricks".
