[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Double Tap?

So I've been here for a few years and seen tons of people do a "double tap" when they post (two consecutive posts with the second one saying "double tap"). Is this done on purpose to increase post count or is this a glitch in the user interface that periodically causes this? I've never understood it...anyone care to explain?

LOL...I have intentionally tried to click it twice (really fast). My double tap-fu is weak I guess. Looks like you have to hit submit, then the back button, then submit again.

I have a shitty connection at my house. When I hit submit, it will just sit there until it either times out, or I hit it again. Sometimes I will have a "double tap" 45 seconds apart because of that.

Other times, I just see two identical posts.
