Never drink during the work week, but I did the weekend thing for years. I decided to cut back a lot so this weekend not a drop of beer, other than some craving on Friday and Saturday it wasn't that bad no DTs or shaking how bad of a drinker do you have to be to get the severe withdrawal symptoms? I quit smoking 10 years ago and that was way worse of a withdrawal. I am considering stopping all together and finding something more productive to do on my weekends. |
| Cravings and withdrawal are two very different things. All bodies are different but I doubt that an intake of 8 beers a night will produce any withdrawals at all. A few years ago I got a little out of hand and was basically drinking an 18 pack every night for almost a year. I quit drinking cold turkey for a year. Just to prove to myself I could. No withdrawals at all, just cravings, and even that passed pretty quick. I drink socially now but knocked off drinking consecutive days out of principal. |

Stop drinking for several months. Then enjoy every once in awhile. if you can't do that you have a drinking problem and should stop altogether. Withdrawing is different for each person. This... good news it is that if you don't have actual withdrawals you are likely in a place where your liver could recover fully if you stop drinking! |

I drink maybe 10-15 beers and maybe a few shots on weekends and don't even think about it on weekdays.
No problem not drinking on weekends just feels like a treat and relaxing after a hectic work week. Alcaholism does run in the family so I know it is not healthy but seems I have it under control. I'm more of a social drinker. |

when i quit drinking,i developed a sweet tooth.
i went thru pretty bad withdraws after i stopped drinking, due to 24/7 drinking/drug use. I got pretty low very fast,and did crazy shit to stay drunk/high and consumed things that the human body should never consume.... |

I would have wanted to drink because i liked to drink, but there was zero signs of withdrawal. Yet within a few years some of those folks would have to get a glass of whiskey as soon as they woke up. Losing weight. Don't feel guilty for abusing my liver. And I let myself splurge on other expenses due to the money saved. I was drinking craft beers so at 8-9 bucks a six pack I am saving around 160 bucks a month that I can put towards guns, etc. This doesn't account for the money I'd save on food too when I am not drinking. This is (was) me to a tee last 3 months of the year^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I got tired of feeling shitty, getting fat, being demotivated and losing interest in all the other (active) things that I really enjoyed doing. Haven't had a drop of alcohol since New Year's Eve and I feel great. Probably gonna extend this through January |
