I remember when a person who knew a pumper in the oil patch could come across some "drip gas". There are still some places to aquire some if you are brave enough to try to run it in your car, or broke enough. I've always wondered what the octane rating was on this gas, because it really gave the engines a bad case of the knocks. Any of you old timers ever run it, and what did you do to get rid of the knocks? I've heard everything from mixing gas, diesel and oils to mothballs. I just know it is hard on engines and nerves |

I better chime in here because I slept in a Holiday Inn last night. Drip gas is basically high gravity condensate. It is the "light" hydrocarbons that comes from natural gas production. It can be burned in an automobile but will cause some damage in the newer cars with emissions and computers. Best way to use it is a low concentration like several gallons per tankful. I would start off with a very low concentration and then work up. I would also monitor my engine performance regularly while using it. It is a clear liquid like varsol. |
