Dealing with a 95 K2500 4x4.  Is having a noise/vibration seeming to come from the rear end/driveline.

It seems to get worse based upon speed.

I got under there and was able to grab the  drive shaft and flex it and  the carrier bearing rubber piece up and down in the mount maybe 3/8" to 1/2".
Is this normal?

I've not tested the other u-joints in the line. But planned to do that and take out the fill plug to look for metal in the fluid.

Is there any other potential cause?

Thanks

Out of balance or bent is a possibility. Pinion bearing is another.

Is it normal to be able to physically move the rubber support on the carrier bearing up and down in its mount?

There shouldn't be any free slop (i.e. a gap)but the rubber is there to absorb some vibration therefore it will move a little.

Yes it will move some, shouldn't have a ton of play but some is normal. Do you see any dry rust dust weeping from any of the U Joints or at the carrier bearing?

Is it vibrating when using the gas? Does it still do it when you let off and coasting?

Recommend pre-emptive replacement of all 3 U-joints on rear shaft.
They are old enough, just replace before failure.
I have seen some growling vibration result for badly brinelled differential side bearings on full floater rear axles, but if yours is 'semi-float' then  wheel bearing is more likely, pitting on axle shaft, at bearing surface.

I can say for certain that carrier bearing shouldnt move that much.

TO test without buying much of anything, remove the retainer around it, and shim with some rubber.  I used a pc of old bed mat.

My drone/vibes went away.

I ordered a new bearing and R&Rd it.  Done

Mine would allow similar movement, 3/8 or so

Replace the carrier bearing. While you have it out might as well replace the u-joints.
I would take the shaft to a good driveline shop and have them check it for straight and balance.
