I just read a reviewfrom Oct 2009 that stated "The Droid does not support Bluetooth voice dialing." (link)

True or False?

It would be better asked here  Droid General Discussions - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

Yea, I have been going over a bunch of posts there. It seems to be the case that there is not bluetooth voice dialing as of yet.

I know we have a lot of Droid users here. I was hoping this was an launch bug that was fixed with a recent update, but it seems that is not the case.

I voice dial with it in my car using the vehicle's system.

Does your car store a copy of your phonebook?

I know that my Android phone does not support it.

I can voice search but not dial..

As I recall, my Droid did not. Had to go to BB to get the voice dial. I would say 'call bob smith' and it would ask 'call parking enforcement?' Never liked voice dial.

Voice dial over bluetooth shouldn't even be a concern. When I read that this morning I was shocked. Lots of the old cheapo flip phones we have here do it just fine.

No. Droid does not do that.

ETA: I haven't tried with android 2.1 yet. Maybe I should.

My wife's new vehicle stores a copy of each of our phone books. We can choose which one of us connects if we are both in the car.

ETA: I have a droid, wife has a BB. Both can voice dial using the cars system.

Ok, that makes some sense.

It would seem the car is doing the 'heavy lifting' in that case and not the actual droid.

Oh well, with the 2-for-1 offer on the Droid I think we can overlook the lack of this feature.

The Droid is a good phone regardless.  You can still voice dial from the handset.

If you load HandCent on it (SMS client) it has a speech to text feature that works really well.  I spoke "what is your major malfunction, numbnuts?", and it spelled it all out  correctly.   It will however replace 'fuck' with ####.   lol

True or False?

True. I had the Storm 1 and at upgrade time I went to the Droid, 3 days later I traded it back in for a Storm 2. No voice dial was the reason.
