So the wife and I are looking to get a couple of motorola droids. My question is why do you need a google account?
Will some of the features not work without it? Also, how does the email work compared to a blackberry? Thanks |

You need a Gmail account because that's where it stores all your contacts and email and stuff. You can edit your contacts on Gmail and they'll sync to your phone. A Gmail account is free, so why not get one. You can set your Gmail account to pull from your other email accounts if you want. I pull my Comcast accounts to my Gmail account for delivery to my Droid. I tried setting up POP3 and IMAP with my Comcast accounts on my Droid but it was more trouble than it was worth.
I'm not sure how to answer your question about the Blackberry. I have a BB for work and we have a full Blackberry Enterprise Server so if you're asking about comparisons with the Blackberry Internet Service I'm not sure I can comment. I do know that I don't have to have any of my PCs on to still receive email on my Droid. |
