I'm a n00b to Droid, and I have a minor issue.
I have a Galaxy S3. The OS is 4.1.1 I have a -1 showing for messages in my e-mail inbox. When I open the inbox on the phone or the computer I only see messages that have been read. The drafts, sent and trash are empty. That stupid orange -1 won't go away. Any advice? |

I want to help but am not sure what you mean. I have an S4 so our software is somewhat similar. It sounds like the notification won't go away after you open the email, is that accurate? Is there an option to mark all as read? |

The only fix that worked for this problem is the clearing of the email cache and data. Be advised that by doing so you would delete your personal settings and messages 1.Go to Applications Manager. 2.Swipe to choose All tab. 3.Find and tap Email app. 4.Touch both the Clear Cache and Clear Data buttons. 5.Reboot the phone. 6.Re-setup your email account. |

Wow. What a weird thing to happen. |
| I know this doesn't really answer your question, but install K9 Mail. Much better than the stock email client. |

google will probably be more helpful but if I were trying to fix this I would
1) reboot the whole damn thing 2) try uninstalling the mail app and reinstalling it 3) open Application management and go the mail app and flush the cache on that app 4) if it's the build in mail app and you can't uninstall it, go to accounts and delink the email account from the phone, that should flush the whole mail app and set it back to zero ETA: 4.5) back up photos and do a factory reset and set it up again 5)if that fails I'd root the phone and flash CleanROM ACE 4.5, it's just like stock rom but with out the crap. it's easy and google has directions 6) sell it on craigslist or pawn it off on my wife and get a Galaxy SIII or SIV if you can swing it. a Note2 if you REALLY want a good phone. Best phone I've ever owned, hands down. this is just off the top of my head but will give you some options to try. I'd go for the cache flush first. |

Try this. Put a check mark next to them then hit the button on the upper right, then hit mark as read. This sort of worked. I checked the messages and marked them unread. Then I opened each message. That found the message that was negative. I went to the computer and deleted the offending message. Thanks guys! I appreciate the help. |
