My son wants a drone (helicopter type) that has a camera that allows you to see the picture live as opposed to downloading it.   What will I have to pay for such a camera? Any suggestions on what to buy?

A gopro can show live video, but it has a few second delay.

I wrote the book Drone University, and I second this recommendation. Excellent value for a starter/fun quad.

next step above is 500 bucks for a cheap FPV 400mm quad, and even still just barely a step up. Real toys start around 1k, but start with the Hubsan first.

here is our unoffical thread for multicopters

I like the Nano QX FPV from horizon hobby.  The RTF version comes with a set of fatshark goggles, and the quad itself is the best flying nano sized quad out there.

I love these threads and hate them at the same time.  Always has me wanting to spend money.
