That's probably the fastest a humvee has ever moved.

That's nothing, you should see 'em burn in on Sicily DZ!

I can't even count how many times I've seen annihilated trucks being carted down Grueber that day after a heavy drop. My uneducated guess says only about 2/3 to 3/4 of their chutes open.

I know somebody has to have the video of drops gone bad. I can't find it.

I could not believe how high a Jeep bounces when  the chute fails to open.  I saw one air dropped at MCB Camp Pendelton that was on a pallet with cardboard stacked under the axles.  The parachute just streamed and that Jeep hit the ground and bounced 20 to 30 feet in the air.  The second time it hit the ground it blew apart, stuff was flying every where.  The Recon guys were not talking so much shit after that happened.

Sorta reminds me of a thread we had just a day or so ago. Something about airplanes pooping humvees.

That was because they now had to walk as opposed to drive

THe one that I always love is the video of a LAPES drop of a 10K lb. forklift; how it slides off the back of the 130, then all tiedowns snap and this sucker goes driving down the dropzone without a driver. I can imagine a few loadmasters went home with red forehads from the severe facepalming that occured afterwards.

Obviously that failure rate only applies to the chutes carrying inanimate cargo.

I'm just a meat-bomb, not a rigger, but I think its more complicated than just an incompetent rigger.

Two on my Regiments IFAV's that got rotated around the Bn's were being sling loaded by a CH-53, the load got out of control, and the 53 dropped them from about 500'.
They looked just like that minus the chrome!   Wheel's shoved up in the well.
