I usually just wear whatever I find cheap at Walmart, usually Dickies. Lately though I've been considering ordering some clothes from Duluth, does anyone have any experience with them? Is the little extra expense worth it?

Don't suggest Carhart, I've seen prices on them double in just a year or two, fuck them.

Their Fire Hose Pants don't hold up well around Fire Equipment - Torn several holes in the pants on various parts of our Brush Truck

I bought a pair of their indestructable fire hose pants. Wore them for 5 months and ripped them Packaged them up and mailed them back. I was refunded the purchase price and shipping.

Their stuff is top notch.

I have a few of their cheaper pants, I like them.

I prefer Riggs Workwear however, a little heavier duty and around the same price.

Look, it's possible/easy to tear pants unless they are made from steel.

I love the fire hose dungarees, I'm on my third free set.

I work outdoors and am constantly in brush, briars, sharp stcks, etc. and I use the firehose pants almost constantly.
They have worked great for me so far through some nasty stuff.  The only thing I have found is that once they get wet - they hold the water in, takes a little more to dry them out.  Tough wise they are better than the Carhartt pants I have, and much better than a pair of duck/uplander pants from a no name manufacturer.

Bought two pair of their 'Fire Hose' pants over one year ago - one pair is going back to be replaced (really, really worn out).  Everything will wear eventually however, they stand behind their guarantee - nice .

They are what Carhartt used to be.

I would suggest these: Riggs ripstop

I just bought two pair to replace the two I wore out.  Two pair lasted a year.  I like them, and at $33 a pair they are less expensive than Carhart.

ETA: I work construction as an industrial electrician.  Very hard on clothes, and these lasted longer than I expected.

I might order a couple pair of those. My job's not very kind to my clothes, either.

ETA: And now that the weathers getting colder, I can actually start wearing tougher clothing. Even a normal pair of 501s get pretty damned hot in the summer when I'm working hard.

I'm not sure what you have to do to rip the firehose pants.  I have had mine for sometime and the are still going strong.  I got the dungarees, it seems that pants that don't look like they are painted on don't rip as easy.

Just an FYI, the pants shrunk about 1/2" in the waistline.  I ordered the next size up this time.

I have bought and worn quite a bit of the Duluth clothes.  Never been disappointed with any of it. I'll keep buying from them.

I bought a pair to wear at work (EMS) and all I can say is they are excellent.

But my 5.11s to shame.

That reminds me Im going to need to buy a new pair or two in Black for my new job.

I'm wearing one of their T shirts right now! I just ordered a bunch more and got them Thursday. Been wearing them for 8 years or so. I'm tall and they are the only T shirts that actually fit because of the extra length for no more plumber butt. Thick cotton, not thin, flimsy shit. Last a long time. Great for work or the weekends.

I've searched for years for a quality T shirt that fit me and finally found it with Duluth.

If you're going to buy a shirt or sweatshirt make sure to check their size chart. They run large IMO. I had to order a size smaller than usual in their sweatshirt and firehose shirt jac.
Great stuff though.

I have been buying my clothes from Cabela's.  Watch their "Bargain Barn" and you can pick up some great deals.  I like their brand of jeans as they fit well and are made of the heavier material and are priced the same as Walmart.

I like their long tail tshirts because I have a long torso.  Most regular tshirts are way too short.

I tried a pair of their "firehose" pants.  Not worth their marked up price, I thought.  Wore for a week and had some rivets pull out, so back they went.  Fabric seemed too thin for what they advertised.

These pants are very hard to beat as a tough cotton canvas pant:  Aerostich Arborwear Canvas Pant  Very thick canvas and double layered in the front.  They are marketed for motorcycle wear, but worked well off the bike too.  Only one color option though, and very pricey.

I know the OP said no Carhart cause of the price.  I'm generally a cheap bastard, and shop around.  Check Sierra Trading Post for deals on Carharts.  I've never paid more than 20-ish for a pair of double front Carharts at STP.
