I usually just wear whatever I find cheap at Walmart, usually Dickies. Lately though I've been considering ordering some clothes from Duluth, does anyone have any experience with them? Is the little extra expense worth it? Don't suggest Carhart, I've seen prices on them double in just a year or two, fuck them. |

I work outdoors and am constantly in brush, briars, sharp stcks, etc. and I use the firehose pants almost constantly.
They have worked great for me so far through some nasty stuff. The only thing I have found is that once they get wet - they hold the water in, takes a little more to dry them out. Tough wise they are better than the Carhartt pants I have, and much better than a pair of duck/uplander pants from a no name manufacturer. |

I would suggest these: Riggs ripstop
I just bought two pair to replace the two I wore out. Two pair lasted a year. I like them, and at $33 a pair they are less expensive than Carhart. ETA: I work construction as an industrial electrician. Very hard on clothes, and these lasted longer than I expected. |

My job's not very kind to my clothes, either. ETA: And now that the weathers getting colder, I can actually start wearing tougher clothing. Even a normal pair of 501s get pretty damned hot in the summer when I'm working hard. |

I'm wearing one of their T shirts right now! I just ordered a bunch more and got them Thursday. Been wearing them for 8 years or so. I'm tall and they are the only T shirts that actually fit because of the extra length for no more plumber butt. Thick cotton, not thin, flimsy shit. Last a long time. Great for work or the weekends. I've searched for years for a quality T shirt that fit me and finally found it with Duluth. |

I tried a pair of their "firehose" pants. Not worth their marked up price, I thought. Wore for a week and had some rivets pull out, so back they went. Fabric seemed too thin for what they advertised.
These pants are very hard to beat as a tough cotton canvas pant: Aerostich Arborwear Canvas Pant Very thick canvas and double layered in the front. They are marketed for motorcycle wear, but worked well off the bike too. Only one color option though, and very pricey. I know the OP said no Carhart cause of the price. I'm generally a cheap bastard, and shop around. Check Sierra Trading Post for deals on Carharts. I've never paid more than 20-ish for a pair of double front Carharts at STP. |
