[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Dumb variable scope question

I am used to red dots and fixed mag scopes. I recently got a 1-4 variable. When I set the ocular at 1x to the correct focus it becomes blurry at 4x

Is this normal for a variable? Do I need to refocus every time?

Set the focus on max magification and leave it there.
