Gird yer panties arfcommers.  Pics of snakes below.

Thought I'd share some more recent pics of our snakes.  If you've got snakes, please, post some pics.

No, this is not a threat posture, I caught the pic at the tail end of a yawn...

This is our newcomer.  He won't be here for a while yet...

I appreciate them for the marvels of biology that they are. Their metabolic adjustments to environment, adaptations for feeding, success in niches of all varieties and chemistry are all fascinating.

They also creep me the fuck out.

Cool snakes. I had a pair of green iguanas for about 20 years. I still miss them - neat critters.

Looks like a Mojave in that bathtub with those females (they look like females to me, fairly large.)

I got out of BP's when I became allergic to rats :(.  It sucked.  Had a few pastels, a few spiders, a bee, a lesser plat., and a slew of normals.  I miss em.

I don't have any pet snakes right now. But I like finding them in the wild.

What brand is this snake and is it tier 1?

Snakes are cool creatures, but how do keepers deal with the stink of having snakes around?

Pretty sure that's a cottonmouth or, as I like to put it, a reactive shotgun target.

I used to keep venomous snakes when it was legal here in Indiana. Now there is just to much red tape.

Stink?  Snakes do not stink.  They do have a scent at all actually.  Dog, cats, hamsters, mice, rats, etc stink, not snakes.

very cool pic's and post.

Snakes always have the best CAMO - I do not understand why someone has not come out with a "snake" pattern.

I always had a snake as a pet growing up - my fave was a speckeled king snake.  I always wanted a scarlet king snake (looks like a coral snake) - caught one not too long ago - watch it craw into my garage - caught it and took it to a great place not too far fromt he house and set it loose to go do it's thing.

As far as the people that kill snakes on sight - sad that they do not understand that each person and thing has a place in this world.  You leave them alone and they will leave you alone.

I had a bunch of baby rattlers in one aquarium and they smelled pretty foul.

That's a high white california king snake.

He's an awesome little guy.  Growing like a weed now.

have a pet speckled kingsnake... well I had one
havent seen him around
he liked to lay around the water hose and blend in
grabbed a handful of him one time and scared the mess out of myself lol

also while digging up a broke pipe I grabbed up a small juvenile copperhead. lucky for me the standing water he was in was really cold and he was slow
also scared the mess out of me... of course I "thought" i was bit for about a hour lol

Did you clean the aquarium regularly?  If not, feces build up will reek.  Snakes themselves don't smell bad unless they musk you.

Any of you guys have hognose snakes?  Daughter is interested in one and I'd like some more info.

Some more pics.

These two will be finding their way here in a couple of months.  They are a breeding pair of red tail boas. I love the "Whatcha doing?" look on the female in the hide looking at the male killing the fuck out of the rat.

This is a baby rainbow boa.  He's only 3 months old and absolutely stunning and a wonderful little guy.
