I understand that the EE rules are tailored to keep people from needlessly bumping threads, and with the EE traffic we have here, its a very good idea. However, I feel there is a better way... On another forum I frequent, their classified section has a 'bump' feature. Once an ad is posted, you have 24hrs until you can bump the thread to the top by using the 'bump' button. The button is grey when you cant (mouseover gives ETA til next bump) and green when you're able to bump the thread. Replying to the thread will not bump it to the top of the forum. This allows people to answer questions and conduct any business necessary within the thread, instead of having to answer the same question 15 times via IM, prevents the mods from having to worry about people bumping threads, etc. I dont know how hard a similar feature would be to implement here, but I feel that it could benefit not only the buyers and sellers, but the moderators as well. The 24hr limit referenced above is just how the other site does it, I'm not petitioning for shorter bump times, as I see how quickly the EE moves, though, a shorter bump time for TEAM members would be nice  Just an idea to help the site! |
